AcuRite Iris 06052M Remote Battery Pack for 5-in-1 Weather Sensors

The 'Remote Battery Pack' is a must have for anyone with an AcuRite Weather Station. The higher you can mount your station the better the better the accuracy of the wind speed is. Mine is on mounted on an 8' pole that is attached to the roof of my house. Without the battery pack I would not have been able to mount it that high, nor would I have mounted it on the roof at all. Have the battery pack mounted under the roof of my porch, means all I have to do is walk out to my porch to change the batteries. No issues with weather and no ladder needed. It has its own mounting bracket built into the unit, and it is easy to open the cover to get to and change the batteries. A very well designed product with ample cable provided, so that you can mount your weather station in an effective location, and still safely change the batteries.

Always dreaded having to crawl up onto the roof to change out batteries on the sending unit. Usually there was only one battery that was low. This attachment took only minutes to install and is a great time saver, not to mention probably an eventual life saver in the long run. I'm sure it was only a matter of time before I fell off the roof while changing batteries, but now it is a simple matter of walking over into the closet and opening the battery case and installing a new battery. Great! Really great! always hated crawling up onto the roof to change out batteries

I have my sensor mounted on a pole about 25 feet in the air so changing the batteries was really a pain. This option works well as I no longer have to lower my mounting pole to retrieve the sensor and change the batteries. The thing I didn't expect was that due to the long run of wire from the battery box to the sensor there is a significant voltage drop. I am getting about half the run time out of batteries now that I had when I was installing the batteries directly in the sensor. You have to decide if you would rather replace batteries more often or have the simplicity this product offers. I am looking at options for wiring a dc converter in line and eliminating batteries all together.

***Update #2 (December 8, 2020): Both remote battery pack and AcuRite weather station are going strong without any issues. Still ORIGINAL batteries since Christmas 2018 ~ Using Lithium batteries as better in Cold climate weather.** **Update (March 18, 2020): The remote battery pack is still is use without issue....AND still the original batteries since Christmas 2018....We have experienced all weather conditions since then and the unit has literally weathered them all from nearly -50 C to + 30 C...snow, rain and a LOT of sunshine!! Very pleased!!** Gifted for Christmas 2018 with the AcuRite weather station and it is completely compatible. It was received quickly and works well so far. The cord is long enough to allow for easy access to the batteries for changing them all while keeping the main battery compartment undercover and out of the elements. A great feature is the fact that the batteries are separated into two sets so that you can ensure you do not lose your historical data when changing the batteries. I hope this review was helpful!

Works great , hopefully saves going on roof to change batteries

Great for those weather stations that are high and out of reach... Also the idea that data is not lost when battery changes are made is the most important. Great product so far !!

Odds are the time the batteries die in your acurite 5 in 1 weather station is going to be in the coldest part of winter. Installed this and with its long cord was able to position the battery pack where is is very easy to access. No more worries about climbing a ladder in the dead of winter to replace batteries. Great product

What a great idea. I now don't have to worry about getting the ladder out to change the batteries any more. AcuRite bring out some great gear.
