Aquila 16U Tenor Ukulele Low G String - Single

The string was as expected, a low G, wound tenor uke string. I put it on my uke and it was just what you'd expect and hope. No bad surprises. Shipping was about 2 weeks faster than it said too during this time of quarantine! It made my uke sound closer to a guitar, lowering the high G to a low G. In my opinion it works better for rock songs than the traditional uke strings with that high G. You do need to retune pretty constantly when it's new and stretching, so play a lot!

It's a low G ukulele string from the most popular and respected ukulele string makers. A low G string on a tenor uke is a Hawaiian standard. I know because I'm from Hawaii. If you want a fuller sound without going into baratone ukulele territory (different tuning and chord shapes) the low G tenor is a good middle ground. Just make sure you tighten the string slowly because the metal wound string won't have as much stretch as the nylgut string. I broke my first low G that way. Buy 2 just in case you break the first one. The wound string wears and oxydizes faster anyway so you'll have to change it twice as frequent as your other strings. Still worth it.

I really liked this string at first. But, after a couple months of use it has already rusted....

These have great sustain and add a mellow-full-warmth to any ukulele. I use them for both my tenors and baritone Ukes

It sounded awful in a set with strings 1-3 being common (non-wound) nylon strings. Very dissonant sound with the low G string vibrating much too long and loud. One other review claims that this dissonance goes away over a week's time. I was not patient enough to find out, because I don't find any pleasure in playing on an instrument that sounds bad. Because of this I then just reordered a common set of (non-wound) nylon strings in order of thickness (thickest on 4/G, thinnest on 1/A). Tuned it to low G and it instantly sounded wonderful and the string tension is perfect. I suggest to everyone to try doing that before ordering a wound low G string...
