Took: A Ghost Story Review: This is a great book - While I was enjoying a conversation about books with my family and talking about ghost stories, my nephew who I didn't think was really paying attention to what we were saying, told me you want to read a good ghost story? I said sure. He said you have to read this book, gave me the tittle of this book. He told me he had read it and automatically thought of where we live and how I would love to read this book and maybe I would see the resemblance. He was right. I couldn't put this book down. The story telling and the way this author writes made me not once think I was reading a young adult book. I now have something to talk to with my nephew. I love this book. I will look into more of her writings. Review: a ghost story is an amazing book, why - Took: A Ghost Story By: Matthew Haughton Introduction This book, took: a ghost story is an amazing book, why? Because of its bad times like when the mom was sad when Erica went missing, or good times like when Daniel made a new friend, this book’s mysterious storyline, characters, its conflicts and, most importantly its plot. I hope this essay helps you to decide to read this book The Characters There are any characters in this book but the main characters are, Daniel, he’s a brave, worried, 12-year-old boy who is scared that his sister might be lost maybe even dead or he might not see her again in fifty years. Erica, she is a little girl that likes to play with dolls, when she was kidnapped she wasn’t much use to auntie she couldn’t do anything right old auntie beat her, because of that Erica has bruises on her face. Erica didn’t want to move to Virginia but after she was found she made a friend and started to like Virginia. Old auntie is a conjured woman that kidnap’s girls like Erica every fifty years and most of those girls die two weeks after being found, but it did not happen to Selene. The mom didn’t do much in the book but, she is a smoker at times, she worries about her kids like any mother should, and she had mood swings when Erica was missing, she worked as a real estate agent. The dad is like the mom because he wasn’t in the book much either but some stuff he did was, that he played military video games, computer games, he had a job at an office but then he got laid off that’s how the family lost money, after they moved he got a job at home depot. The Plot The plot to this story is good I like it but some people might not like it but I am going to say it anyway. The main characters move from Connecticut to Virginia because of money issues. After they moved Erica and Daniel were bullied at school. The mom and dad had no friends when they moved to Virginia. There was a very old lady that lived in the woods and kidnapped girls to be her slaves every fifty years. Erica gets kidnapped by the very old lady named old auntie. Daniel tries to find Erica but instead he finds a girl named Selene Estes. She disappeared fifty years ago but she looks the same as the day she disappeared. Daniel will do anything to get his sister back, he went to a relative of old auntie named Ms. Perkins he went there with one of his neighbor Mrs. O’Neil. Mrs. Perkins told Daniel to do something to trick old auntie get into her house get Erica and sprint out of there without getting caught Daniel did what Mrs. Perkins told him to do even though he was scared he was able to save his sister. Conflict When the Anderson family moved to Virginia there were many conflicts. The conflicts were between Daniel and Erica and the mom and dad. Daniel and Erica’s relationship became bad when they moved. Daniel and Erica started fighting and arguing. The mom and dad’s relationship also became bad when they moved to Virginia. This happened because the mom was not happy they moved. The relationship got worst when Erica was taken. The mom and dad barely spoke to each other because the mom blamed the dad for Erica’s disappearance. Conclusion Today I helped you decide if you think the book Took: a ghost story is a good book by telling you about the characters the conflicts and most important the plot thank you for reading my review.

Perfect for seventh eighth and ninth graders!!
I am a reading specialist working with eighth and seventh graders. I think I originally purchased this at a scholastic book fair at our school and it has turned out to be an absolute hit in the fantasy mystery genre, excellent writing, great vocabulary development and a truly creepy story. I guarantee your kiddos. Will love it.

Exciting and Fast Read
The students in my class are a fan of the author, so I decided to read this despite not being a fan of the thriller genre. I worried that it would be inappropriate for 6th graders, but I found it fitting for the age level. Some of the believability falls down in sections, but I was able to suspend my disbelief to enjoy the story. I did find that the author pointing out the work ethic difference between generations was hilarious as well as the cat lady. It seems like the author had set up for more complexity with other characters such as the O'Neills, but it must have been cut out through editors as to not overcomplicate a tween thriller story.

Exciting and full of suspense!
This book was creepy and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved it! I'm 31 years old and have been enjoying Mary Downing Hahn books since I was a child, and now that I have an 11 year old daughter I now get to see her enjoy them as well. This book was a bit scary and I'm not sure if my daughter is ready for it just yet. I highly recommend it. Another thriller from my favorite childhood author that won't disappoint.

Not Scary, Not Mysterious
Ghost story set in West Virginia, Easterners come to town, don't know any of the local lore, become embroiled in things they don't believe in our understand. Expect clueless parents, wicked local bullies, and tall tales. Also, keep an eye out for characters named after less than good people in various Gothic literature classics. Not actually relevant or important, but worth keeping an eye out for. Too predictable to be really interesting.

Très bon livre, facile à lire même s'il est en anglais.
