Great poles
I have had a variety of hiking poles in the past. My last ones ended up trashed after an unfortunate trip while hiking in Switzerland, and so I decided to give these a try based off of the great reviews. I have used them while hiking on dry rocky, elevation hikes in Arizona and Utah, and also on long, muddy hikes in flatlander Wisconsin. I've been impressed at their functionality on both of these types of terrain, and am looking forward to trying them in more mountainous areas in the future. Things I like: They have a secure clip to lock their length into place, rather than simply twisting them into place (those poles have failed me in the past). I like that these poles come with a variety of tips to them, so that I can alternate them as needed for different terrain. I also like that I can easily break them down and fit them into my suitcase. They are light weight, easy to grip, lock easily in place, and break down quickly and easily. And they're an excellent price.

Lightweight, sturdy poles that make a real difference on hikes
These Cascade Mountain Tech trekking poles have been a great addition to my hiking setup. They’re very lightweight but feel solid and well-built, especially for the price. The aircraft-grade aluminum gives a good balance of durability without feeling heavy or clunky. They adjust easily, lock securely, and have stayed put while hiking. I’ve found them especially helpful for balance, reducing strain on my legs, and managing uneven weight in my pack. On longer walks and colder hikes, they’ve made things feel more stable and controlled rather than fatiguing. The grips are comfortable, straps are easy to adjust, and the included tips make them versatile for different surfaces. They pack down nicely when not in use and are easy to carry. Overall, these are excellent trekking poles for day hikes, casual to moderate trails, and anyone looking for reliable support without spending a lot. Simple, effective, and well worth it.

Beats the expensive ones
Second set. First set I put a couple hundred miles on but got chewed by my dog. Works as good or better than the fancy branded ones I’ve had. This set I have now needed a little extra glue on the cork handle of one of the sticks because it slips down (slowly) as you use it

Great Trekking Poles
Great trekking poles. I recently had knee surgery and I got these to help me walk. I have been very unstable walking because of my knees, but these poles make it easy to walk more normally and to get a full stride comfortably. The poles are well-designed and well-made. Easy to adjust the length of the poles with clear measurements on the sections. Easy to tighten clamps, and a good selection of tips/baskets for all terrain types. The grips are very comfortable and easy to use. And replacement parts are readily available in the event of accidental breakage, etc.

Wow!
I have been using an Eddie Bauer collapsible stick for years; it still works but is gradually wearing out. I have used it primarily for wading and fording streams for fly fishing. These new sticks blew me away. The quality of materials from the cork handle to the locking tabs is superb. There is much attention to detail in the design and construction. The fact that you get two of these in a nice carry case is hard to believe for the price point. I would expect to pay more than double for such a nice product. They extend easily and lock and hold firmly in place with no slipping. The trick is to follow the instructions to the letter regarding adjusting the tightening screws and closing the tabs. Even though they are walking sticks, they have the carbide tips that will perform well on rocky streams.

First Time Trekking Poler on a Third Trip to Isle Royale
It's like having a second set of eyes on the trail! Our trip was to Isle Royale National Park and although it wasn't my first time there, it had been about 15 years since I was there last. Needless to say, I'm a bit older and achier with joints that are starting to creak more. I know what the trails are like there and I thought it would be a smart and safer idea to try trekking poles for this trip. Since I didn't know what to expect from using trekking poles, I did not want to spend a whole lot in case I didn't like them. Well these poles exceeded my expectations and at a fair price to boot. I'm not clumsy and there were still a handful of times I may have seriously sprained a knee or ankle if it weren't for the stability of these poles. Not a good predicament in back country like this. The poles were easy to get used to with my steps. On the rocky and rooted parts of the trails, I planted the poles slower about every other step and they provided good stability and balance. On the rare smoother parts of the trails I planted the poles quicker with each step and they provided some propulsion to make a quicker pace. On declines and big down steps, they took some of the exertion off my knees. And for short inclines it was easy to drop my hand to a lower grip to get some umpfh to step up. The wrist straps came at just the right length (they are adjustable even tho I didn't realize that until the last day LOL), and when I lowered my grip for those inclines, they provided a sling-like support on the back of my hands to help pull me up. In some areas where we had a lot of continuous incline or decline, it was quick and easy to change the length of the poles with the quick lock mechanisms for those situations. Some of the trails were narrow boardwalks where you couldn't really plant a pole. So in those parts I held the poles together, horizontally to be more like a balancing pole. I thought I might get tired of holding them all the time, but not so. The cork grips were comfortable the entire trip. They never got sweaty or slippery and I didn't get any blisters. If I needed hands free at any time, the wrist straps held the poles close enough to grab again easily. This pole set came with 4 different sets of tips. I debated taking the rubber tips along since I knew it would be so rocky. (The poles had shipped with those tips on.) In the end I took them off and decided to go without any tips, just the bare tungsten carbide tips as they were. On the trail I was especially impressed by how well these bare tungsten carbide tips "gripped" even on the giant, relatively smooth, sloped boulders we had to go over. They never slipped once. The trails on Isle Royale are pretty rough. It's a watch-your-every-step kind of hiking. Even so, these poles allowed me to glance up more to see our surroundings. If I stepped wrong on a rock or root I didn't see, the poles (which I had planted ahead of my steps) were like second eyes, and gave me the balance to survive a misstep. We got a lot of rain on this trip and many trails were also flooded in parts. The poles made it possible to feel below the surface of the water if there were solid steps we could use to step on, or how deep a puddle really was. We even had a short whitewater crossing due to heavy rains and those poles were extremely helpful then. If I were to give one negative point about these poles it's that the lines and measurements were wearing off by the end of the trip. They went through a lot of water which probably didn't help matters though. Overall, I would highly recommend these poles. They are comfortable, light, strong and easy to use. As for myself, I intend to use them for all my hiking trips from now on.

I bought it to hike Fuji Mountain. The locking mechanism on the shaft did not work properly and kept getting loose changing in the lenght of the pole. I had to stop all the time to make it tight. I gave one star because the grip was pretty good and comfortable. I hope I get a refund.

Great quality hiking poles. Lightweight, easy to set up, flip mechanism holds really well and they fit in hands perfectly.

We purchased two sets of these Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles with Cork Grip at the end of December 2019 for both my wife and I. We like to go trekking on the Bruce Trail in Southern Ontario, Canada. We have put them to use three times already and they have been very good. Each time we have trekked for about 4 to 5 hours, going uphill, downhill and on flat ground. Due to trekking during the winter, we have been wearing gloves, so I can’t comment on the relationship to cork instead of the EVA material. The cork feels fine and looks to be a good overall material that will hopefully hold up all year long. The aluminum poles, which we chose, are strong and have held up well with plenty of downward pressure on them. The Quick Lock Mechanism seem very strong and as long as you properly adjust them, seem to hold up fine. Overall theses poles appear to have good sturdy construction. They also came complete with the accessories kit, as described. These poles are a great value for the price. Both my wife and I recommend this product, however time will tell how well they perform in the long run.
