Good once you get the hang of them but they are a bit fiddly and you really need a good centre punch to get them to stay centred. Once they bite they work quick. Not that easy to use underneath a van but handy if you are working in an easy access area. The centre pin can get stuck if you push too hard. Metal tends to weld itself to the tip which restricts the hole. I had to take the bit apart a few times and grind the tip. Overall good when they work, but frustrating when they don’t,

These things have their quirks, but they do work, and the ones I got last MUCH longer than the one I bought from Harbor Freight. Mine seems to need me to drill a hole with measurable depth to prevent wandering. A simple drill point or a center punch mark isn't enough. Then, instead of drilling straight down, I start drilling at an angle and push sideways against the drilled hole so it takes up all the slop in the arbor. Once it has started to bite, I slowly rotate to perpendicular and continue drilling. I am using them to drill out large spot welds in 1/8" thick steel and I can get 20+ welds out of a bit if my technique is good. These things are a real time saver and have allowed me to reuse material I separated, too. I wish I had known about these years ago!

Do what you need them to do at a decent price. Cutters are sharp and seem to be hard wearing. Used more expensive engineering products and been far less satisfied.

I've used the stepped drill bit style over the years, they work fine. But I prefer this style now much better. Simple center punch and a clean cut only on one side of the double panel. Leaves a nice clean weldable surface. Sure it's not super high quality, but it works perfectly, cut off two full body panels on a Jeep CJ, probably over 50 spot welds cut out and this tool made the job easy.
