The guide simply tells you to connect to the extender's wireless network and go to an IP adress to set it up. The only problem is the extender's networks are both password protected with no password included in the guide or anywhere online; and resetting the device changes nothing. I had to set up a computer by the location where I placed my extender and hardwire an ethernet cable into it to get it set up. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not that great, and expensive *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2016* It looks like a solid unit, but it did not perform as expected. No way to assign a fixed IP, and the setup is very convoluted. I have the tp-link extender, which I feel is much easier to set up, and you can assign a fixed IP to it. Also you can place the TP-link unit much further from the router thus extending your range. It looks like this unit does not have the signal sensitivity of other extenders ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worlds largest wall wart, but that's a good thing *by F***D on Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2016* Amped Wireless High Power AC2600 Plug-In Wi-Fi Range Extender with MU-MIMO (REC44M) Full disclosure, I received this from a friend for freeTl:DR - excellent and does exactly what it saysCons; kind of - so the one thing I was worried about with this when I got it was the size. Really, it looks like the worlds biggest wall wart and it kind of is. But while that is true, I actually found it to not be a problem at all and even beneficial over other designs. I have attached a couple of pictures and while you can see it is a kind of wall wart, the designer did an excellent job of making the other outlet useful, this is not always common with wall warts. Now you won't get another giant plug in there, but no problem for another cord or extension cord or power strip.Also, I found this much more preferable to having to find a flat surface for it with a long cord or having to put screws and mount it to the wall myself. So in the end, my original concern turned out to be a benefit.A quick note: I am a little tech savvy, but not extensive by any means, I am getting close to 50 and grew up with computers and electronics, but definitely not my major skill set or profession.I opened the box and there are very few things needed, unit, antenna and instructions - pictured below - I read through the instructions and they were pretty clear, but I also read there was an installation support video and being a more visual learner I watched it. it was helpful, but only really for learning style as the instructions that come with the unit are clear and give all the same info http://www.ampedwireless.com/support/model/rec44m.htmlSetup - I followed the instructions, attached the antenna plugged it in and went on my laptop and connected - worked exactly as the instructions and video said - no problems and super easy to do. This may be that Mu-mimo thingAfter the easy setup, I got it working and have full signal almost everywhere on my property - even in the dead areas - I think some of the metal bars on the house made a partial Faraday cage in those areas - or just created issues.The Amped wireless AC2600 works much better than my main router and pretty much everything stays connected to it.if you are looking for a wi-fi extender, this is easy to setup, will cut through all the other noise and give you plenty of signal.
