It does exactly as stated, no brush strokes left on it, super easy, dries very fast and there was no real smell! I could even do it inside in a separate room where I let it dry! Just put some kind of cloth or sheet under so if it drips, but even then it was easy to get out of the floor! Also keep in mind, it DID make my wood a slight shade darker, it is something to be informed of. It wasn’t a lot just some but important to be aware of. Mine was the satin water based and as you can see not a lot of gloss at all which is what I wanted! I use a small square of old tee shirt gathered around several cotton balls and tied with a twist tie. Wear a nitrile glove and hold the "daubber" in your had, dip it into a small qty. of the poly and proceed to wipe the surface. Watch the reflection on the surface as you apply the poly to ensure complete coverage. Allow to dry. Lightly sand with 320 grit and reapply. Repeat until you have the desired result. **Q: What is the difference between the satin and the gloss and which is better for redoing a farmhouse dining set that will be stained a dark walnut?** A: The gloss is almost always gonna give you a thicker coat. That means more protection for the wood. HOWEVER, I believe the satin finish is much “richer” .... and not as FLASHY as the gloss. With your dark walnut, I think it deserves the satin treatment.... but it’s easy to recommend ANYTHING when IT’S NOT MY TABLE!!! I just wish it was a little duller of a finish or be available in Satin. The semi-gloss sheen should be great if you don't want a full on gloss on furniture. I'm using this in my modeling & on wooden folding knife scales. Do apply in very thin coats with very light very fine grit sanding in between coats for best results.
