Italeri 1:72 - M4 Sherman

Its a nice little kit. The engine with drive shaft option is perplexing given that no other internal feature is included. Parts fit together quite well, but the lower limit of the vertical traverse is as seen and modification is needed if you want it lowered further. Rubber and plastic tracks are included and some effort is needed to fit the plastic tracks. The numbering decals are supplied individually and fine surgery is needed to get the serial number in place. The stored components at the rear are aftermarket, but everything else is from the kit. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed building this.

1/72スケールの75mm砲搭載型のM4A1のキットです。 履帯をベルト式と連結式の２種類から選ぶことができます。パーツの一部を切り飛ばせばサイドスカート無しにもできます。 また、このスケールでは珍しいことにエンジンや一部の内部構造が再現されています。 エッチングパーツは入っていませんが、プロポーションもモールドも良い感じ、部品も少なめでサクッと組めます。 プラスチックは本体部分がOD色、履帯部分がグレー（タミヤのXF-56 メタリックグレイに似ていると思います。）なので 塗装せずに付属のデカールを貼るだけでもそれなりにいいものが出来上がるでしょう。 今までガンプラなどを無塗装で楽しんでいた人が、ちょっと戦車に手を出してみるのに丁度いい感じです。 残念なところとしては、ダボがないために部品を合わせにくい、部品の端がちょっとめくれていたり凹んでいたりするために合わせ目が目立つ、一部OVMがモールドになっていること、起動輪と履帯のサイズが合わないことがあります。 小さくてかわいいシャーマン戦車が簡単に作れるキットです。オススメです。

This might have got a 4 star review if it was not for two things. First off the parts are mot that crisp so there is cleaning to be done. Secondly the turret is attached to the wrong hull. Apparently, the larger front hatches (which from above are angled outwards) were not used with a 75mm gun. Ironically Revell got the right model inside the box but depicted the wrong one outside the box!

Mold showing its age now, needs a lot of tidying, but still a nice kit.
