I read this for my book club: this excellent translation is sending me back to all of the Russian greats, as long as they're translated by these two!

My Favorite Dostoevsky Novel
"And in fact I'm now asking an idle question of my own: which is better-cheap happiness, or lofty suffering? Well, which is better?" Probably my favorite of Dostoevsky's work. I've read "Crime and Punishment" and "Brothers Karamazov." Comical, easy readability, philosophical, only wish it ended on better terms. Then again, that wouldn't be a Dostoevsky ending.
