Raphael round no.12 brush is great for watercolours. Holds a good amount of water and behaves like a natural hair brush. However, no points to the seller for packing the fine art material so poorly. The brush was in its own thin plastic transparent bag and shipped in a large plastic bag. No bubble wrap or cardboard packaging. It's not a cheap brush! The seller should be more professional in packaging products. Others have complained about this issue, but the seller has not acted on the feedback.

I am expressing my views after proper testing. I have nothing to complain about this brush, if you are a serious watercolor enthusiast this is the brush for you, and trust me it won't let you down. The brush is very compact and well built in nature, it is super soft and holds a lot of water in one dip and glides very smoothly on paper, just like cheese. It is specifically made for watercolors, has got very good shape retention capacity and natural snap. A while back i ordered "Princeton Series 4050 Heritage" which is not soft and hold as much water as Raphael. Looks like the Softaqua line of Raphael is pretty good, i am looking forward to order the famous Raphael MOP brush in future which is the Softaqua line as well. One thing the buyer should bear in mind that, i ordered brush no: 12 by looking at pics, but it looks as if it is no: 8. so don't follow the picture posted by Amazon, just got to the Raphael/Sennelier website and check for the brush diameter and pick the one which suits your needs. The brush is amazing. The shipping, however is horrible. The first time I brought this brush, paint on the handle was chipped, ferrule was bent and flattened out. I requested a replacement, which came fairly quick and nicely packaged, but i wasted LOT of my time on just that. Now, the brush is the most amazing brush I have used. It holds a decent amount of water and comes to a nice, fine point. It does not dispense all the water all at once, and so a brushstroke goes a long way. Would recommend if you have been using watercolors for a while.

This isn't round brush no. 12. It's round brush no. 6 in reality. Why allot brush numbers if you can't stick to them? Horrible experience. Never ordering from Sennelier again.

The brush is decent not the best as the review say for example the brush is soft and smooth but hold much less water then expected maybe it is only happening with mine and I got 1 with a loose handle I have requested for replacement

Superb quality. Soft brush, holds good amount of paint, maintains tip well.

Performance wise, no complaints at all. The brush glides on the paper and loads good amount of paint. Rest as mentioned in other reviews, the brush is more of a number 6-8.
