The right fan was making quite a loud annoying sound, like the fan blades were grinding against the housing or something. I tried opening up the Mac and vacuuming out the dust, and even taking out the existing fan, disassembling and cleaning it. No luck, as it was probably a bad bearing causing the noise. If you are experiencing similar issues, try cleaning first, but before reassembling, power on the laptop to see if the noise is eliminated.If you have ever replaced anything inside your Mac, you probably already have the tools. If not, you'll need a #0 Philips head screwdriver, a T6 star screwdriver, and a spudger or tiny 2 mm flat blade screwdriver. With the #0, remove the 10 screws (7 short and 3 long) on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the bottom and face the vents in the back of the machine toward you. The fans are now oriented to match the left and right replacements. You can't really mix the two fans up since they're totally different mounting hole patterns. Using the T6, remove the 3 screws holding each fan. Using the spudger or flat screwdriver under the wiring harness connector, gently pry up the connector from side where the wires exit the connector. It should easily pop off. Remove the fans and install the replacements, press the connectors into the sockets, reverse the disassembly procedure to reassemble your laptop, and you are done.The new fans are exact replacementsβ€”same brand and part no.β€”for the old ones. The laptop is now nearly silent. Ahhh. Given that the old fans lasted 9 years with the Mac running almost continuously, I hope I won't need to replace these anytime soon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good! *by M***A on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018* I replace the interla fans my self. Appears to be the same fan as what was already in my macbook pro. My old fans were producing a whirring noise that sounded like an airplane taking off.
