I thought a dongle was not required to connect to a mac. the wire to the mouse cannot fit in a mac. how would i connect it?

Hi Icy, Yes, you do not need a receiver as G203 is a wired mouse. It only works with macOS? 10.13 or later.

Can the light be turned off?

How long is the cord?

Roughly 80 inch +/- about 1 inch. I laid the mouse down and straighten the cord and used a tape measure to measured.
