I have bought several of these now for the different servers I maintain. They have all been good. They have been different brands of hard drives but all have worked well.The speed and storage have been as expected.This last one was a seagate and it runs hotter than any of the other drives. I the 8 drive NAS it is runinng 4 degrees C warmer than anything else in the NAS. It's worth the saving getting the refurbished drives.

I have purchased 4 in total. They are new, relabeled Seagate NAS drives (judging by the model number). SMART data showed no previous usage and no issues. Performance is excellent and they are relatively quite. I am using them in my home server/NAS. Linux, ext4, and RAID are supported with no problems.

2nd life for NAS HDD's and as usual with any renewed products there is chance of failures.2 HDD's failed over past 8+ months with another one in unhealthy state out of total 4 ordered - not all at the same time!. There was an inital anxiety of loosing data, Raid 5 helped not loosing or I was lucky that not all failed at the same time. Considering to rethink on migrating to Raid 6 for little more confidance.Contacted the seller with product still in 3 year warranty, and replaced as soon as possible. The product support deserves kudos.I recommend the product to cost conscious and environment friendly tinkers who can reduce e-waste with a caution to ensure regular backup schedules.

You're rolling the dice getting these. Ordered 4 for a Raid 5. Upon initializing; one failed the smart data check by Softraid and wouldn't complete. Amazon sent a replacement - which did finish the process and I was able to build my Raid. Less than an hour into a data transfer; the RAID suffered a catastrophic error. Warnings popped up "Cannot Verify Sectors"....but before I could investigate further...my computer was forced into a reboot. I then couldn't boot up my computer with the RAID on or connected. I hot swapped another set of RAID 5 drives into that box to verify that the enclosure wasn't the issue - it stayed built and powered on for 10 hours - so it's not that. These showed up as Seagate Exos drives - and 0 hours via the smart data. So - technically these are great deals - IF they worked. But apparently; a large majority of them don't. If you decide to buy - don't use them in a system without redundancy. Don't buy them for a project you're in a hurry on. Odds are - by my current estimates - 20 to 40 percent they're bad from the start. I know the price is enticing. Ended up going with new Toshibas for a few bucks more.

I mean, it's not THAT loud, but you can totally pick the sound out of a quiet room.The drive died after a few months and I was able to get a replacement, but both drives are just loud by comparison. At least it's responsive enough for a 7200rpm drive and the replacement hasn't also died just yet *knock on wood*

I bought several MDD hard drives over the last few years, and they’ve never disappointed. Low noise and high speed (for an HDD) is not something you see very often, but all the ones I’ve purchased do both.

I bought 2 of these to use as a mirrored NAS. When first installed and turned on they were slightly noisy. Just a mild hum and I had to actually listen for it. But after just a couple of weeks the noise had subsided and they are working beautifully.

I bought 4 of these for my NAS, plus one additional for a replacement to use in the future. One of the drives failed 2 years and two months later. These are supposed to have a 3 year warranty. I followed the instructions on the warranty card, emailed the correct address and provided the requested details. I sent a follow up email 8 days after the first email and a month later, no one has contacted me.
