Buy this to increase pool's return jet pressure.
If you want to increase the pressure coming out of your pool's return jets, this is the fitting you want to buy. I tried the various options on the market including the 3/8" eyeball openings and the Hayward slotted returns, and none came close to this one. It is more expensive than those other options, but it works far better. I can't speak to longevity as I have only used it for this pool season, but it is well built, so I am viewing it more as an investment in good water movement, which will save me time on manually skimming and reduced chemical usage. To provide some context of my equipment, I have a VS pump and 4 return jets, 2 direct from the pool equipment and 2 on a zone from my Paramount, which I have paused on this zone. There was no increased pressure in my sand filter.

works great
Seems to work as indicated. Best part is it directs the flow. We were having a wasp drinking the pool water problem. I turned all my "V" jet upward to create a rough water surface, which made it hard for wasps to land and it helped. It is also handy to direct leaves to the skimmer. Another wasp deterrent is a crumpled up brown paper sandwich bag hung to look like a wasp nest. Apparently wasp are territorial and respect other territories. The bag deters wasp from drinking your water and scaring pool guests, who are not used to wasp flying next to them, to drink pool water.

Good product overall with a couple of minor flaws. Does increase water circulation as promised.
These REALLY do increase circulation in the pool. With my old original Hayward returns I could barely tell if the water was moving. I can see the swirl of the entire pool like it's being stirred. My only complaint is that these are a little hard to move to direct the flow once they are screwed in. I end up unscrewing the entire assembly part way by accident. Also there are 4 pieces so it makes it a little tricky to get everything put together just right and get it screwed in. I think maybe a one or two piece design might be less prone to issues but hey, I'm no engineer. A couple of times when we had to remove them the inner ring didn't come with it and was stuck in the return fitting. I just didn't have enough finger strength as there's not much to grab onto so I had to get it started with some pliers. Overall I like these. They really do help the water move better. As for increasing water temps, I cannot say as we've had a lot of ups and downs lately in Indiana with temperatures and quite a bit of rain.

This unit is FOUR, not just three pieces which gives pressure options!
I have a somewhat unique setup where I actually have a pump with filter, heater and salt cell with only a SINGLE return jet. I have a separate system for performing actual water filtration. The water filtration system (DesJoyaux) is designed to create a significant circular water flow to eventually bring the all the pool contents past the skimmer. The return jet for my heater/salt system was installed such that it exactly countered this circular flow. So I've had a 3/4" eyeball return for the past 8 years cranked on as tight an angle as possible to try to at least not actively fight the circular flow if both pumps are running simultaneously. When the eyeball return outlet broke (the part that secures the eyeball to the water outlet cracked). I found this dedicated "v-fitting" which gives me probably about the same if not a bit more of an angle than the previous eyeball did but it frankly looks a bit more attractive. Problem was, this unit is EXACTLY 1/2 of a 3/4" hole whereas my previous eyeball was a full round 3/4" hole. So the pressure on my system increased markedly. If the pressure gauge on the filter on that system is to be believed, it used to run at about 15 PSI and it jumped to about 20 PSI with this unit. HOWEVER, what is not at all obvious from the pictures for this product listing, is that the solid part with the 1/2 hole in it is actually just an insert that can be removed. +The outer portion is will still direct the flow on a significant angle. So I removed the insert and now have the equivalent of a 1 1/4" opening with a tight bend. The attached pictures show the insert that I left OFF of my installed unit. So my system is again running fine and there is less stress on it as my operating PSI according to that gauge is now showing about 12 PSI. Again, I don't know how accurate those gauge numbers are but 1) replacing 3/4" eyeball return outlets with this unit will definitely result in higher pressure 2) removing the insert from this unit will give you a permanent flow redirector with LESS pressure than the 3/4" does. I can't help but think this will help with the life of my heater by having the heat exchanger operating under less pressure. Anyway, I felt it important to point out that, while this unit has the potential to perhaps dangerously increase your pool system's water pressure, it comes with its own remedy if that is undesirable while still getting your redirected flow and a relatively attractive return outlet cover.

Increases water flow and well built
Screw out the old returns, put in the new ones. How easy! Focus them down to circulate water, turned on towards the skimmer to direct leaves and floaters, workers well. There is a substantial Venturi effect, and increases water flow. I have three aimed down at pool corners where detritus collects, and they keep the particles suspended in the water and not in th corners. Down side, some junk like grass clipping get stuck in the Venturi and that detracts. But they clean easily with a small toothbrush (old used one, not my present one). Good investment, good quality heavy duty.
