Great Beginner Chess Book
I teach chess. I bought several copies of this book to loan, gift, or sell to my students. This is not the most current edition but it is fine and costs less. This books covers the basics of chess. It's a gem!

Informative Book - very Helpful
I purchased this mainly for my husband because I got a Chess Set this year for my husband and I to play but he's never played chess before, whereas I was playing chess all my school years and some beyond. For myself it's been awhile since I've played so I thought a brush up in print would be nice for me too. I will say that my husband is feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the information this book contains. He's having to digest it in pieces. In hindsight, I should have reviewed basic rules with him and played a couple beginner games before throwing this much information at him. You might want to keep that in mind. Basics first - then read the book. I'm enjoying the book as a brush up though, it's very informative and it goes through points that if it's been awhile since you've played is quite nice to be reminded of. Overall, I'm very happy with the book but it's almost too high level at times for a beginner who is reading prior to ever even trying to play the game. That's the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5. However - the absolute plethora of information fit into this book is amazing. This is my first "for dummies" book and I'm very pleased not to feel like an idiot for buying. Truly this is an excellent book that misses not one thing.

Very basic but OK for beginners
Do not expect much from this book if you are ELO 800 or higher. But still OK if you never played chess and want to get started.
