For what I've used it so far, it seems pretty flexible. Did not move it much but had problem keeping it at where I wanted.

I want to use another mic with this, Does the mic light up with switched on? Does the mic base use 48v phantom power?

This base doesn't appear to work with another microphone, nor does this microphone work when plugged directly into my mixer (in fact, the red ring no longer lights up - so sending 48v directly to the mic probably blew out the LED). If you're looking for a microphone on/off switch to use with your own mic, you'll need to try something else.
