The short answer (see the longer on in my review) is that you need a Windows PC (hardware, not virtualized) in order to update the unit. I found an unused Mac and installed a Windows 10 instance using Boot Camp; the installer is free to download and there are apparently "temporary" license keys that allow one to boot and use Windows with degraded functionality without cost. You'll need the latest update .EXE file from Kingston. I can confirm this worked. **Q: Does this meet fips 140-2?** A: Yes. I think so. Should be in product pamphlet **Q: is it managed by corperation or for standard private use???** A: From what I've read, both, your choice. May depend on the model, read the fine print.
