Medium weight, not especially soft but not rough at all--I would say this is more a decorative throw/top layer on a bed than one you snuggle up in. Important notes: It says it's reversible but the back is sort of a burgundy negative image. It looks fine but it's very obviously the back. The color in the photo is also not true to life in my experience--On my screen it looks quite white but in person it's more of a cream, almost khaki color.
