I'm not that far in volume 1 and I studied Japanese for years using Duolingo and Internet searches, so everything I've read so far is very familiar to me. But it's super nice now to have proper explanations for grammar in addition to practice, all in one book. It's good too that it pushes kana and kanji early on so the student will have to learn to read.
