Double checking. is there any reason to buy this qudelix off amazon if the fiio btr7 is going for just £8 more?

I noticed that as well, and swapped to the BTR 7. The Fiio is a bit better sound quality for me (a little smoother). I prefer the physical size of the BTR7 and the button layout also. The FiiO app has got better and now has PEQ presets, but overall the Qudelix app has more info and better options. I'd say unless you need the tiny size of the 5k, then the FiiO is better if you're paying about the same for each.

Can ldac be eq'd? ive read that this is the only dac/amp that will allowed it but just wanted to make sure. thanks.

Yes you can eq and create and save more than one custom eq presets too.Also there is long list of eq presets installed to choose from - based on different headphone brands.Great little device but does make difference and battery is very good too.
