Easy to assemble, just add a 2x4 lumber (not included) to make a sturdy picnic table & 2 benches to 8' Long. The only tools required for assembly are a powered screwdriver, wrench & a saw. We made ours 6' and had Home Depot cut all the boards to length since we don't have a saw. If you are going to paint/stain, definitely do it BEORE putting together. After painting, I think it took us all of 30 minutes to get both benches and the table together. The instructions on the box took a little reverse engineering (which sized screws are for what??) but overall my husband called it "Arkansas proof," meaning any dummy could do it. :) Instead of measuring 1/4" between boards, we just lined up the end ones and eyeballed the spacing of the rest, making sure the screw holes matched up. This method worked out just fine. We also went ahead and put 3 support 2x4s on the underneath of each bench. They really do need it to distribute weight and keep the boards all pretty and flat. For the table, the supports wouldn't be so much for weight as to keep the boards flat and from twisting. At 6ft, the set is easy to maneuver around the deck as it isn't too heavy. The plastic feet make it easy to slide around as well. It is very handy that the benches are separate. You could very easily add two shorter benches to either side of the table to seat more people. The benches are nice and wide to fit a variety of cheeks and the height is perfect. Overall, we are very impressed! We've have had ours put together less than 2 days and I've recommended it to a bunch if people already. I suspect at our next BBQ, everyone will agree and love this set! I recommend #10x1" stainless screws, they are available at Lowes. Probably at Home Depot too. You might want to buy enough to do the whole table and bench kit with the stainless steel screws. Otherwise, you'll need at least 20 2x4s. 8 for bench seats (4 each). 2 for the under-bench supports (1 each), 8 for the table top, and 2 for the under-table supports. You can use regular pine, spruce, or fir, pressure treated, or cedar 2x4's. I've used them all with great success. You can make them as long or as short as you'd like for the space you have. All of mine were 72" long. The underneath supports can be longer than you need, just let them stick out a little from the legs. I also recommend adding some cross supports mid way for each bench and table, and diagonal supports for each bench and the table. This will increase the rigidity, and should help the screws stay in place. I recommend you stain or paint all of the lumber surfaces prior to assembly. I have built 6 of these tables and am very happy with each. **Q: Can I purchase the picnic table alone without the benches** A: Yes you can buy only the table it is at Amazon do a search on "Hopkins" and it will show up, however the kit with the benches is only $10 more, and the benches by themselves sell for $22 each so for $10 you are better off buying the kit. You can use the bench parts to build end tables if you don't need benches. **Q: Can’t find the size of the plastic frames, LWH** A: Width of frames are 2 1/2". Bench frames are 14 3/4" W x 15 1/2" H. Table frames are 29" W x 27 1/4" H. **Q: I received my table today, but there were no screws included. Can anyone tell me what type and size screws this comes with so I can buy at the store.** A: Jonathan, I've built 5 tables, and each was short at least one screw. The screws supplied are #10 x 1" plated steel, and I suspect they will rust quickly. So, I find that Lowes sells #10 x 1" stainless steel pan Phillips head machine screws in packs of 35 (WeatherMaxx brand). You'll need 3 packs to complete a table/bench kit. Those work fine, but the heads are slightly smaller in diameter than the 2x4 Basics supplied screws. So, if you use the Lowes screws, be sure to keep the screws deep into the "V" on the legs. And, they won't rust. But will add angle braces. *by A***R on 27 May 2019* Easy to install. Robertson screws would be nicer than Philips. Both the benches and table will eventually need angle braces to make it sturdier. But for now, it sits well, and is sturdy unless you are rocking from side to side.
