Sometimes the led blinks rapidly for several seconds and does not open. What is a reason for that rapid blinking?

Next time it does that blinking count the number of seconds it blinks. This sensor does not blink rapidly unless it is powering up. Maybe you Have it wired wrong?

Will a single sensor cover a set of double doors or do you need one sensor per door?

does the sensor use the 12 volts from the mag lock to operate ?

Hello, The unit operates on the 12 or 24 volts from the mag lock and operates fairly well. I have blown out a couple but we have extremely high traffic.

Can I just use the exit button without the sensor?

An exit button will work independently but you may want to see what the local code requires. In many cases a request for exit motion detector and an exit button are required.
