This hit-filled sequel finds drunken-style kung fu master Wong Fei-Hung (Jackie Chan) taking on a crooked businessmen illegally selling Imperial Chinese treasures. With knockout fights under a train, in a busy marketplace, and in an iron foundry (where Chan lands on a bed of hot coals!). Great Jackie entry given a 2000 American release as "The Legend of Drunken Master" co-stars Ti Lung, Johnny Lo, and Anita Mui as the mah jongg-crazy stepmother. 102 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: Cantonese. Mandarin, English; Subtitles: English (SDH). In Cantonese with English subtitles/Dubbed in English. Review: Great Film, horrid dub - The film is a grand epic of classic kung fu and Jackie’s flare, unfortunately this is a poor dub in comparison to his English dub Review: Throwback Movie - Love this movie I remember watching it as a kid growing up

Classic Great! There is a technical issue with the sound near the end at 1:38. Amazon should fix the problem.

Great Blu Ray!
So from the reviews I read some purists make this Blu-ray edition sound like its the boogie man. This Blu-ray has a bunch of options. You can watch this film in it's original language with English subtitles, which is how I experienced the movie when It was only available on VHS with burned in subs. Their is also a english dub but its not Jackie dubbing his own voice. So if you're mad about that you shouldn't. Lets be real Jackie chan has a deep accent that ruins the movie. If you want that experience then go watch Rush hour, dont make that a reason to 1 star the film. Anyway this American release is way better then the ledgend of the drunken master.

Not the Dimension dub, but still great.
I saw this on amazon and just blind bought it because I assumed it would have the version where Jackie Chan does the English voice-over for his character. I was a little disappointed to find out that dub wasn't included. I watched the blu-ray a bit and thought it was good enough for me. Of course, the English mono track can't compare to the 5.1 Dolby track with Jackie's voice. Good thing this blu-ray has the uncut Hong Kong version. That kind of makes up for it. Plus the Hong Kong films made around this time tend to have mediocre sound, so I've gotten used to it. But at the same time, I'm feeling nostalgic for the English Jackie dub. I was going to buy this not matter what. Love the movie. The blu-ray doesn't deserve one star.

Watch this in the original Cantonese with English subtitles
The bad reviews are for the English dubbed version which I have not even given a chance due to all of the negative reviews for that version. But the Cantonese version with English subtitles is 100% intact from beginning to end; no audio issues whatsoever, with full audio in the "banned" original ending. My one complaint is that the version that I saw in the mid-90s had different voice dubs; it was still in Chinese but sounded different. I don't know which version that was, but I still remember it to this day because I watched it so many times and I preferred that one, but this Cantonese version is just fine. Still Jackie Chan's best movie of his entire career, and I definitely recommend it!

Don't get me wrong, this movie is a masterpiece. The one star review is for the version that this is. It has already been said in other reviews that I've checked (after watching this movie) but the audio cuts out at the end, also the dubbing doesn't do the film justice. I've heard that there is another release with sub instead of dub. I would HIGHLY recommend looking for the other version, I wouldn't have paid for this version if I had known ahead of time. Again, no hate on the movie, this is definitely worth the watch! Just maybe look for it on another platform...

Enfin une édition blu ray même s'il n'est pas en français, j'adore. Je le considère comme le meilleur film d'art martiaux de jackie chan.

This martial arts classic is finally available in North American in it's original uncut Cantonese glory. I understand many are offended by the original ending. The ending was meant to show the negative effects of alcohol as opposed to glorifying it as an elixir but I completely understand the execution in the film doesn't sit well with many. However, the completist in me is just happy to have the original uncut version I saw in cinema years ago and in glorious hi-def. I did wish the English dub would be the Miramax version with Jackie's English dubbing and hoped it would contain some special features for a film that's regarded as one of the best martial arts movies committed to film so I'm disappointed by that this is only a barebones disc. Just glad this film is finally available uncut, in it's original language, and in HD. Hope for more classic HK films from the Warner Archive.

Fans of this movie can't be too choosey. Unfortunately the print isn't the greatest. It's definitely better than the Miramax version. Warner Archive didn't do any Criterion Collection restoration or offer any supplements of note. It's a very basic release. If anyone were to purchase the Warner Archive release, don't expect much.
