Upgraded old fountain with Solar!
My old fountain's pump stop working after 8 years, I decide to get a new pump and upgrade to solar power. I Tried different pumps that came with a solar panel, water flow was weak or stopped working after a few weeks. My friend recommended this pump kit to me and told me to connect a 10W 12V solar panel to it. It came with a fountain kit for those who are building a new fountain, it’s a nice touch since it has 4 nozzles which allows you to adjust the height and select the spray pattern. However, I have no use for it since I am upgrading my old fountain. Installation was pretty easy. The cable of the pump is very long, which allowed me to install the solar panel away from my little garden. At the end of the cable, there is a short extension cord that can be detached when you unscrew it, I connected the extension cord to the solar panel. (The connector is not designed for standard solar panel, but its clearly labeled with positive and negative tags.) After sunrise, the pump starts pumping the water to around 1-2 feet high and is around 3-4 feet high by noon time. The pump is very quiet, it's almost impossible to hear any sound from the pump when the fountain is running. My friend told me I can hook up a 12V car battery if I want it running at night time. In my case, when the sun goes down, I don't really need the fountain on. It works around 8 hrs during the day which is good enough for me. Now I don't have to worry about turning off my pump while I sleep or out of town. I can just leave it and forget about it since it runs off of free/green energy. It has been running for few days now and I don’t see any sign of failure. It should be a solid solution for those who wants to replace their old fountain or upgrade their old fountain to solar and save some electricity cost like me. Pros: Long power cable Quiet Come with fountain kit Detachable extension cable I’m giving this pump a 5 star because it's a perfect for me, although I have to mention the plastic cover on the pump is not that great. But i don't care...

Amazing Brushless Submersible Water Pump - Highly Recommend
I have been using these pumps for about five years with 12 Volt solar power and they work well. I have one that has been in a pond pumping water over a small waterfall for four years without cleaning of any kind. I think they are amazing in their efficiency and gallons per hour flow for the very reasonable price we pay. I highly recommend this.

Have a backup.
Ordered in June. It failed just shy of 60 days. Pump was working great in a small water feature I have. It was in a prefilter that was cleaned weekly. Water became crystal clear within a week. Today it just stopped working. The impeller is frozen solid in the housing. Can't be moved or pulled out. Should be easily removable to clean. Now need to find a new pump immediately to keep fish alive. Won't be this one.

An impressive little pump when paired with the right panel.
An impressive little pump. I'm unsure of it's longevity, but out of the box it's great. I see a 10 watt panel recommended but I would go with the "ACOPOWER® 15Watt 15W Polycrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12v Battery Charging " panel. It produces 22v and the pump can take 24 so your getting a much higher performance. It has a higher amp output as well so the pump will start more easily. Saying that, paired with that panel it needs a fair amount of sun (slight overcast) to begin pumping. The clips on the pump just screw on the terminals on the panel making it instant installation. I've used a lot of solar panels and pumps in my pond over the years and this pairing is a solid performer.

Lived well for 4 years before failure
Bought this almost 5 years ago and used it quite a bit for the last 2. Connected directly to 100 watt (old) solar panels it worked well except that it would make clicking noises when the light was at low angles. Plenty of pressure when full sun, but the variability between high and low sun results in about 5 times the flow, making it tricky to use directly with solar panels and not underwhelm or overwhelm the fountain. I got about 12 feet of head using 1/2 inch pipe at full solar (but it was MY panel, not the kit) One great thing is that the threaded connector is standard 1/2 inch male pipe thread [MPT] making it easier to use standard sprinkler fittings. When I used a 12v buck converter the constant voltage made it easier to fine tune the fountain. It's easy to disassemble and came with a "filter". The pump is a little noisy. The shaft of the impeller broke suddenly after almost 4 years, so I guess I got my money's worth. I wish I could replace the impeller shaft part and I would continue to use it.

Versatile powerhouse of a pump in a DC format
Exceptional little pump that packs a lot of features in a DC (direct current) format. I am using this pump in an ice water recirculator system for medical purposes. Since it is placed in water and attached to a human, the low voltage and DC format do this pump make it much safer than AC. Best of all, pump power can be controlled by changing voltage. In my application, I control temperature by adjusting input voltage between 12 and 24 volts, which in turn changes pump flow rate. The input source is a standard 1/2 ID tube The only real negative to this pump is that it is on the loud side. I have seen louder pumps in this size, but I have certainly seen AC pumps that are much quieter too.

I bought this a few years ago and after several harsh winters(i left it in the water during -40C weather) , it still runs great!

It has been difficult to get a solar DC pump for my bird/Bee "bath", this fits the bill perfectly, birds appreciate fresh bath water, bee's appreciate the slow trickle, no splashes. Perfect for the job.

It came like most items from amazon, sooner than expected and is working better than I thought it would for such a small unit.
