This is supposed to contain Potassium polyacrylate which is plant safe. A similar 'water gel' Sodium polyacrylate looks and acts the same but is toxic to plants being equivalent to adding table salt to a garden.Polyacrylamide is a similar synthethically produced gel compound with very high hygroscopic properties. In english it's a dry powder that absorbs a lot of water and will release it back as it's surrounding gets dryer. It does not contain either potassium or sodium in the chemical chain.It's used as a commercial soil amendment and can be found in humidity reducing agents and other moisture control products.It's basic composition is an amide which is based on ammonia, and a hydrocarbon.
