One thing I found was it did tend to move around a bit on the carpet - not really noticeably while sitting on it, but over the course of a few hours I would look and it has moved away from the desk a couple inches. I just moved it back in place and it didn't bother me. One day I was sitting down and dropped something on the floor and bent down to pick it up and I heard a sound like something had snapped. I looked around and didn't see anything and didn't think much about it. A bit later I heard it again and that's when I saw a small crack developing in the floor protector. It had been about 6 months since I bought it so I was not able to return it to desertcart. I tried to contact the seller since the product description said it came with a 12 month warranty, but I could not find the contact information for the seller. I called desertcart and they agreed to let me return it after all and I ordered a new one. Same experience - it worked well and everything was fine...again for about 6 months. The floor protector cracked again, and this time it was much more noticeable. I decided just to keep it because the cracks didn't seem to affect the chair rolling on it and I didn't want the hassle of trying to return it again, especially since when I returned the first one I had to pack it in cardboard before the UPS store would send it, since this is solid and doesn't fold up. This will be going on low pile carpet. Will this withstand the weight?** A: Most likely. I bought this heavy duty chair mat about four months ago. I weigh 420 and the office chair has 5 "legs" with the ball-type rolling wheels. My carpet is either low or medium pile. I really like this chair mat. I does NOT "dent" at all. I can see slight "trails" on the SURFACE of the chair mat but, when I touch the "trails" with my fingers, they are just surface marks, but NOT indentations/grooves. The office chair rolls smoothly on this mat, unlike the previous vinyl mat, where the 5 leg "balls" made permanent indentations in the vinyl .... and then the chair wouldn't roll. Also, the old cheap vinyl chair mat tend to "slide" on the carpet; I had to keep picking it up and putting it back in place. However, with this Heavy Duty Chair Mat, I have NOT had a problem with the mat "sliding" on the carpet. Just now, to verify, I looked down and saw that the mat is in the same position as when I laid it down, 4 months ago. To tell you how much I like this chair mat ... I just installed a second office desk and office chair in another room - and I just bought ANOTHER one of these Heavy Duty Chair Mats. My only concern, at first, was that the chair mat was shipped "as is" (NO BOX), with just the protective film on both sides, but NO protection on the EDGES (where it was resting - on it's naked edge - on my front porch). I was concerned, until I got it in the house and peeled off the protective films - and realized that the Chair Mat had survived the shipping process, undamaged. With you sitting in the chair, the wheels roll easily across the mat. The mat slips and slides under the office chair. I've tried double face tape on the corners of the mat and that hasn't helped. Now a small crack has appeared on one edge of the mat.
