Duplex Driver License Scanner with Age Verification (w/Scan-ID Full Version, for Windows)

This was acquired for one of my friends after two in training servers broke the rules to not serve any alcohol, and they served alcohol to minors sent in by the State. With this it helps the State validate you are striving to comply. This fits up in the serving area and takes great images of the ID while being fast and easy. The servers like it and life is much better now. It functions simply and makes his life easier and less stressful.

Functionality was on point, and the only reason that I docked this bad boy one of two stars was the ease of use factor - it was a tad bit troublesome to start using; however, that being said once I got beyond the software set up issue, this bad boy delivered on quality out of the box. The second star was docked because of how to get the data out of their system and onto Excel or Google Sheets - a bit too much on the time consuming side, though to be fair, that goes against me for not checking on that first

Works flawlessly. Great price; quick delivery. Very few items could not fully scan. Much better than my previous scanner which costs three times the price. Some features required some technical assistance which they respond quickly to emails...not so with attempts to call. I especially like the ability to add scanned pictures and small documents to a scanned drivers license file. This is a great feature for customers with temporary licenses. Absolutely perfect for compliance with local law enforcement record keeping requirements. I do acknowledge that some licenses ot populate the fields; this is a very small percentage. I would like it if the age-21; age-18 field could be set as a default instead of having to reset it each time we start a new daily file.

Not every scan populates the info (about half of them do), but overall I love being able to scan ID cards in general. I can go back to the scans and put the info in a spreadsheet myself.

2 stars because I hate and ignore 1 star reviews. It took over 6 hours to get it to work the first time. Then it worked for 2 days and stopped again. hasn't worked in over a week. Won't scan or even activate. Calls to tech support go to voicemail. We have left messages several days in a row and simply do not get return calls. So at this point it appears that I spent a great deal of money for a stylish paperweight. I'd really like to hear from tech support and if I do I will update this review accordingly.

I purchased this product to operate with a kiosk. I didn't do a lot of research because the kiosk software manufacturer instructed me to buy this one. I thought that said a lot about the product....and I didn't seem to have a choice. So far it has worked well. I like the double side scan ability. It seems to have a lot of customization. When I first hooked it up on our reception desk, it kept shooting the card out the back and off the counter. This was easily solved by changing a setting so that the card ejects out the front. The scanner also gives you the option to begin scanning with insertion of the card or after a prompt on the kiosk. We have had a problem with customers inserting their card in 90 degrees off. Their is a very small description of proper card insertion orientation on the scanner. Easily overlooked. We made a much larger sign and the problem persists. People are going to do what they want to do!

We purchased this scanner a year ago. We have just upgraded our computer that the scanner runs on and this reader will not work with the new software. Less than one year and unit is outdated. We have tried to contact CardReader for help and looks like their phone number has been disconnected. Not happy we are unable to reach something recently purchased.
