Is it as strong as Ram Board for on home construction to protect new laminate floor?

No, not as strong as the typical ram board. About half as thick thus half the price. Very good for a painter but not the same for floor protection. I needed it more for a paint situation so good for me and my project. I see ram board now sells a painter's version probably the same as this.

what is the weight of the product with packaging?

I don’t know but is is very heavyweight and thick. I was pleased with this purchase.

Would this work on stairs?

Yes and no. It would work but it would be necessary to crease the material in order for it to conform to the stairs and then the edges taped with blue or green tape to keep it in position. If you are working on carpeted stairs, I would recommend an adhesive film on a roll that does not leave a residue. It works great and with thicker films, they are quite tough. Cheers
