2016 two CD collection. Almost 30 years on from his untimely death, Divine undoubtedly contributed to the LGBT narrative contained within pop culture in that time. His consistently fluid (and of course lewd) representation of sexuality and gender challenged the theatrics of 1980s pop music within his mainstream success. Created in collaboration with 'Pope of Trash' John Waters, Divine was a brash, confident persona who encouraged self-love within every aspect of his work, a central theme that has maintained his cult status ever since. After the success of his partnership with Waters, Divine would branch out with New York performer/producer Bobby O to launch a musical career that boasted a dizzying angle on Hi-NRG. Shoot Your Shot - The Divine Anthology is the definitive anthology of an artist who became one of the most sensational cult stars of the 1980s, making this beautiful digipak release a must have for all Hi-NRG, disco, dance and pop fans out there! Review: Glitches fixed, Best Divine Compilation By Far - All glitches fixed and great sound. This is the ultimate Divine compilation!!! Review: Perfect! Thanks - Brand new! Perfect! Thanks.

I remember dancing to this when it first was released and hearing many great DJ's mix this
FAB! I think this cd was remastered and packaged perfectly genius. I remember dancing to this when it first was released and hearing many great DJ's mix this back then. These remastered recordings are awesome, excellent sound quality with no skipping, so I have no idea what all the bad reviews are all about. Some people are just DRAMA QWEENS and don't know good music. Be a leader not a follower and try it for yourself. WARNING: This CD will rock the house if your in the right mood. This is truly a divine cd collaboration in more than one wayโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ

GLITCHES STILL NOT FIXED ON SECOND PRESSING
Finally, after decades of buying various incomplete Best-of collections on CD, ALL of Divineโs greatest recordings are made available in a deluxe package remastered by Big Break Records. (Okay, BORN TO BE CHEAP isnโt here but did it really need to be?). The older โbest-ofโsโ usually had all the Bobby Orlando material and one or two by Stock Aiken Waterman or vice versa so you were never getting everything in one place. This release rectifies that problem, plus the sound quality is improved. Everything sounds great and better than Iโve heard it before. They have tweaked and embellished some of the synths on here so songs like the 12โ mix of IโM SO BEAUTIFUL sound subtly different, yet better. This release marks the official CD debut of YOU THINK YOUโRE AโฆMEDLEY which is essentially a Divine megamix (but came out years before that term entered the musical lexicon) that used to have the dancefloorโs PACKED in the โ80s whenever it came on. I remember even seeing the jocks bouncing to this and amazingly they knew all the words, which proved that Divineโs appeal spread across various demographics. MEDLEY originally sounded thin and tinny with no bass due to the primitive mixing equipment back in 1985 but now everything is full and balanced. The original pressings apparently had major quality control issues so BBR delayed my order until now and I assumed I would receive one of the fixed pressings with no skips or other problems. The bad news is there are still a few glitches: HARD MAGIC skips at 6:16, LITTLE BABY skips at 4:55 and HEY YOU skips at 4:48. Too bad BBR canโt seem to get this right, otherwise it would be a Five Star release based on sound quality, track selection and packaging. The glossy booklet contains photos of almost all of the 12โ singles (well, all the ones I owned in the โ80s anyway that came from the US and UK). I am so glad they included those because half of the appeal of buying them was to see what outrageous hair and makeup Divi was sporting on the sleeve.

Oh dear โ Cherry Red Records did it again....
Again and again Cherry Red Records releases CDs full of errors โ they did it before: - disturbing noise (Belouis Some, Aretha Franklin) - glitches (Nick Kamen) - wrong bonus tracks (Eighth Wonder, Hazell Dean) - Cds that won't play on every player (Samantha Fox, Hazell Dean, Pointer Sisters) - missing (promised) bonus tracks (Boy Meets Girl) - improper bonus tracks (Visage, Spagna) - Vinyl rips (too many to mention) This release contains glitches on ALL (previously unreleases on CD, with the exception of "twistin' the night away") songs. All of these previously unreleased versions are audible vinyl rips. But even without all these errors this compilation wouldn't be essential: Most 7" versions are missing, some of them haven't been released on CD yet. E.g. you get 2 versions of "shake it up", but no 7" or 12". Again this is a missed opportunity to get a definitive Divine collection. Conclusion: I won't buy a product from this label again โ I'm fed up with this "company". Shame on you, Cherry Red Records!
