It was a perfect fit for my 2018 Silverado crew cab right out of the box! I haven't noticed any odd smell or anything like that although I park outside, so maybe garage owners would notice a smell if any moreso than I would. bottom line is I'm happy with the product and that is really all that matters in the end although my friends do like it also as it is easy on the knees when on the bed of the truck and it grips nicely so stuff doesn't scrape the bottom. still need to put a bungee on some stuff though as it grips a bit too good sometimes and some things will tumble when breaking hard.
