(including different locations on our slopped 4 acres). We've used many different thermometers--nothing is better than Planteko's instrument. The Stainless Steel probe is excellent for our high pH soil and the 24" length makes it easy to move and check out various areas. We've had the occasion to talk with customer service. Very helpful and gracious to deal with. We not only recommend this unit, but plan to purchase two more. We know it is meant for "compost" use--we've expanded its application. Although the thermometer is primarily for composting, we also use it to check soil temperature so that we know when to plant.
