What was the point of adding titanium dioxide, fd&c yellow no. 5, fd&c blue no. 1? why do we need it in our body?

The honest answer to this question is......NONE other than for cosmetic and aesthetic purposes. In fact, there are more artificial dyes and coloring in Cosamin ASU than a child's blue lollipop.The worst "inactive" ingredient in this supplement appears to be the infamous "titanium dioxide" (Ti02), which finds its way into literally most health and beauty aids from toothpastes to mouthwashes to shampoos to health supplements. I have written about titanium dioxide extensively in my previous reviews. Ti02 is a pigment used to enhance whiteness in many preparations. Unfortunately, the American Cancer Society lists it as among the five most carcinogenic substances on the planet, linking its use to asthma, cancer, kidney disease, Alzheimer's and fertility loss. The American Association for Cancer Research (AARC) has classified titanium dioxide as a Class IIb carcinogen. The problem is that this pigment bio-accumulates in food chains and goes straight to your liver where it is metabolized. This product, in addition to a host of thousands of others, remains a classic textbook example of a well-intentioned supplement being compromised with potentially harmful ingredients. CD

Does anyone notice a big difference with the cosamin asu over the cosamin ds? it's supposed to work faster on sore/strained joints, and be stronger.

I have advanced osteoarthritis. I found little if any difference. In fact, on advice of an orthopedic doctor, I used the Cosamin DS for l long time (multiple years) and found that it did very little for me. That is not to say that it doesn't work for others. Everyone is different. I tried two or three others. The only one that made a significant difference was Relief Factor, which has and is working well. It took about four to six weeks for it to become fully active.

what type of pills are they big and hard to swallow?

They are capsules, NOT hard tablets or caplets. They are easy to swallow with the liquid of your choice: water, juice, etc. I prefer to let them sit for a moment in my mouth with some juice then swallow them one at a time. You should take 3/day. Follow the instructions on the package. I have used Cosamin DS or ASU for about 20 years!! Every male and a few females in my family tree has had joint replacements in their 50s. I am 63 and doing fine!! Cosamin is more expensive than the other glucosamine chondroitin products BUT in my opinion it worth every dollar!! Good luck ( I do not work for the company but as a regular customer I think it is an excellent product my orthopedic surgeon introduced me to cosamin many years ago now I swear by it!

What's the difference between the different advanced formulas? I see different bottles and small difference in the name but all say advanced formula
