Does the brute force (10 incorrect entries wipes data) only work if there is an Admin code installed?

Accepted Answer

If both Admin and User PINs have been created and a User enters an incorrect User PIN 10 (ten) consecutive times, the datAshur Pro’s brute force mechanism will trigger and the User PIN will be deleted. All data will remain on the datAshur Pro and can only be accessed by the Admin entering the correct Admin PIN. If Admin enters an incorrect Admin PIN 10 (ten) consecutive times, then both the User and Admin PINs, the encryption key and all data will be deleted and lost forever. The datAshur Pro will then revert back to factory default settings and will need to be formatted before it can be reused.

Can you download directly from an iphone 12 using a lightning to usb adapter?

Thank you for contacting iStorage Support.

The datAshur range of drives can be used on an iPhone with a Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter from Apple. Most third-party lightning to USB type A adapters will be compatible with the datAshur range.  
 
Once the drive is unlocked and connected via the adapter, you can simply use the Files app on your iPhone to access the files stored in the drive. To view the contents of the drive, tap Browse at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the device below Locations.

Can you put them pin in before you plug it in?

Yes, you can.  After entering the pin, the little LED will turn green.  You can then plug it in like a regular USB stick.

Will it charge from standard usb 2.0 port? what is the life cycle of the internal battery and how can it be replaced?

Accepted Answer

The standard USB 2.0 port will work with this device.  The battery is a Lithium Ion and they typically have a 10+ year lifespan.  I haven't attempted to open the device.  The potential to damage the unit is high if you don't know exactly how to work on it.  I don't recommend you try to disassemble it.
