what benefits does this have over a normal painting color wheel?

To me it shows you the different color combos you can use because if you turn the color wheel to the next section you will leave that color combo to the next one which leaves one section to another it picks up another color combo while leaving one color section behind and you still have some of the colors and you add new ones to the group colors

Can this be used for colored pencils as well

This color wheel has been very helpful to me as a quilter. It’s small and I can carry it in my purse when I’m shopping for fabric. I imagine it would be useful for colored pencils also.
