This is due to the fact that water, high-low temp, force being applied on the batteries can cause it to expand leading to corrosive, combustable implications. I tried kindly letting the seller know as we ordered it to our school for a class of kids to use on their science experiment. Their response was "if you don't like it , just return it to us for refund".
