Decent read
gives a decent overview of the work done in A.I. It was written before ChatGPT release, hence some discussions/predictions might feel outdated.

Great book
Meticulous effort from the author. Great book on artificial intelligence. It covers topics like how it all began, why general artificial intelligence is a hard problem to solve, past and current trends in ai, current progress in NLP, vision, speech, self learning robots, self driving cars, etc. Challenges in incorporating general intelligence and common sense in the ai systems and the research done to date in those areas. I liked the book because it's written by a scientist, and the author has shared her experience of nearly 4 decades of working in this field. A must read.

Must Read: Explains the basics broadly for people of even non -AI or CS fields
A good book to understand broadly about AI for people of non-AI or CS backgrounds like me. It explains simply about the different algorithms behind its different applications, be it language processing & translation , captioning image, games. Also it tells the story of how these were developed- the basic idea and how they have been improved continuously. Most importantly for me, helped me understand deeply than what's told by media, generally AI hype.

A Medium-quality Guide
I am a book-lover, and have a great love for those books that make a unique contribution in the lives of readers. Here are my observations *** The book gives an impression that it will teach the ABC of AI but it fails *** This is just a so-so book on AI *** It fails to present the subject in a simple or chronological way

Must Read for AI Practioners
Just finished reading this book. Language is simple. Explanations are easy to understand. This book has a comprehensive history and the evolution of AI. If really helps the AI practionars like Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Managers and Leaders in AI space and IT overall. Each concept is explained in general language. An easy read if you are into IT. Is it still relevant in 2025? Yes. From the time the book is released the AI world has seen the rise of Generative AI(I am writing this review in 2025). Still the concepts and history helps setting a proper context on th AI
