Great little torch, really bright
Good little torch. Very bright, nice to have different brightness levels. Good battery life too. It feels sturdy and good quality.

Removable battery compartment was an odd choice
My new favorite - tested on some night vision cameras and it works great. The only thing that irks me is that it breaks down into 3 pieces - the head, the battery chamber, and the tailcap. I wish they'd just kept it at two instead of being able to remove the battery compartment because there's a couple times I'll be switching the mode to IR or White and the battery compartment will begin to twist off instead. The only gripe I have now is I was hoping the batteries would last longer - I've had a surefire light before that I've thrown 3.7v batteries in them because that's all I had and it killed the light, so I'm not going to be making the same mistake with this light, but getting CR123 batteries out here on deployment for personal devices is a little hard to do.

Ultimate EDC light
The only thing to dislike about the V1 Vampire is that Surefire doesnt make it anymore. You can set it for white light, infra red or OFF to avoid accidental illuminatuon. Push button cap activation is reliable. Pocket clip is indestructible and Surefire will replace for free if it does break somehow. Use mine multiple times every day and a battery will last months. Use the same pocket light for night ops with NVG due to IR setting.

Love this light!!!
Much better white light than the e1d. I tried the e1d first, even exchanging it thinking that I got a defective unit. The V1 vampire gives off a white light that has a wider beam than my old e2d. I am really liking this wider beam for closer work. The ir setting works very well for nv as well. Still has the led red glow, but it is minimal and you have to be looking directly at the flashlight head to notice it.

As an LE Officer I depend on SureFire every day ...
As an LE Officer I depend on SureFire every day. When I moved into an administrative position I wanted a light I could carry on a front pants pocket that would not bulge or get in the way. I also use this light off duty and wear it in a jeans pocket or throw it into a jacket pocket so I always have a light on me.
