The blade is stiff and rigid, not in any way flexible. Good for cutting dough, and for scraping a smooth hard surface, but not useful for cleaning dough out of a curved vessel or bowl. **Q: Does the one with the wooden handle need to be routinely treated with mineral oil to keep from cracking?** A: No, it doesn't need to be treated with any oil.
