Everything is plastic with exceptions to the metal tension screws and nut. The fat elastic band has 3 thin wavy lines of puffy rubber to help in gripping to a helmet or bald head, with hair it's irrelevant. There's no roughness or grooves to keep the mount hinge from slipping and I've locked it down as tightly as I can. It's snug but with slight effort I can still move it. That might be an issue if you plan on using it with physical activity because the camera might droop or shift with up and down motions. There's nothing really solid about it. I'll probably superglue mine at a 90 degree angle. For the price it's a good buy.
