Best Pen I've Used & Very Professional Appearance
This is hands-down the best pen I've ever used!!!! I originally purchased it to use on interviews and loved it so much that I purchased a second one (plus a few packs of ink refills) for daily use. After letting my boyfriend try this pen, he also purchased a few of them because he loved it. **PRO's: 1) Professional Appearance - The combination of the brushed & polished silver colors (aluminum) gives a sleek, sophisticated appearance without looking "flashy." - The pen's logo is very discreetly placed and almost unnoticeable from a few feet away. - Its barrel has a standard diameter and fits perfectly in the pen slot of my padfolio (I had originally purchased a different pen that had a larger diameter that greatly hinder the ability of my padfolio to close). 2) Comfort & Design - The pen has a very comfortable grip that also prevents the pen from slipping in your hand (even after applying lotion on your hands). - The pocket clip adheres tightly to the body of the pen, which ensures that the pen will stay put in your pocket/padfolio. - The pocket clip is also smooth on the underside and does not leave any scratches or marks behind when you slide the pen in and out of a padfolio. - The retractable tip is easy to engage/disengage, and when engaged, the tip actually stays in the erect/outward position rather than sliding in and out of the pen's barrel/body - I particularly like this feature because it doesn't make any noise as you move the pen around (which is surprisingly annoying and distracting for me, especially during an interview when I'm already nervous and trying to concentrate). - The aluminum body gives a good weight to the pen without being too heavy/overbearing, as well. 3) Smooth, Consistent Writing & Does Not Smear - I exclusively buy gel ink pens, because I love the bold color the gel ink has compared to ballpoint pens. Unlike many gel pens I've used in the past, I have never had any issues with inconsistent ink flow while writing with this particular pen (I've used almost a whole ink cartridge of one pen and about half of my second pen's ink cartridge). - I am right-handed and have never had issues with gel ink smearing as I write, but my boyfriend is left-handed and would not previously purchase gel pens for this reason. However, the ink in this pen dries so quickly that he has had no issues with the ink smearing/smudging. In addition to standard paper (i.e., legal pad, copy paper, etc), I also tested this pen by writing in a few of my textbooks, which have a more glossy finish and tend to smear much more easily in my experience. The ink does take a few more seconds to dry on the textbook pages (so my boyfriend does not use this pen in his books) but the drying time is still substantially less compared to other gel pens I've used (mainly Pilot Precise V5 RT pens). **CON's: - The only "con" I can come up with thus far is that the price has increased on Amazon since I originally purchased my first pen (it was $4.85 when I purchased). However, I still think that even at the current price ($6.83 at the time of this review), this pen is an absolute bargain. Overall, I cannot say enough wonderful things about this pen, and I am thrilled with both of my purchases (as is my boyfriend with his purchases of this pen). I would VERY highly recommend this product to others!!!!!

A well-crafted pen with an affordable price tag!
I was introduced to these pens by a coworker. I really love a good pen and had been having a hard time finding one that had everything I loved- I was enjoying the Sharpie pens for a while but nearly every one I purchased would start skipping and there are few things as annoying as a pen that skips. The first Pentel Energel pen I was given by a friend had a plastic barrel- when that same friend told me they sold metal barrels in all different colors I was ecstatic. The ink refills are very inexpensive (and can be purchased in a multitude of colors- you can even match the ink color to the barrel color if you so choose) and each refill lasts quite a while (how long obviously depends on use). The ink doesnโt skip or bleed and it has a perfect weight and feel in your hand. I also use highlighters quite a bit and most gel pens smear once a highlighter is drawn over the ink- with these pens I just wait a few seconds and then lightly brush my highlighter over the ink and there is no smear. The barrel itself is well-crafted with a beautiful finish. I know that after a very, very long time of use the finish becomes dull and scratches become visible but these barrels are affordable enough to replace them down the road when they begin showing wear. I may never go back to other pens after having used the needle tip Pentel pens. I adore them and absolutely recommend them to any pen enthusiast that wants a beautiful pen without the hefty price tag.

Great pen
I love these pens. The whole pen is very tough. The steel barrel is durable and has a little weight to it which is great for me. I injured my writing hand a couple of years ago and had to learn how to write again. Not having all of the feeling in that hand made it hard but the weight of this pen I can feel in my hand. It also writes so smooth. The only drawback I can think of is if you write a lot you will need to go ahead and order some ink refills because you will go through them pretty quick. Great pen. Highly recommended. Try it yourself.

Best pen EVER!
I fell in love with the Pentel EnerGel pen when a sales associate lent me hers to sign a receipt. I was sold the moment I picked it up and realized that, unlike the usual run-of-mill disposable plastic pen, this one was metal and had some serious heft to it! It felt weighty and important. Then as soon as I put the tip to paper and realized how smoothly and effortlessly it flowed, I was completely hooked! As if the writing experience wasn't enough for me, when she told me that the EnerGel pen is REFILLABLE, I knew I had to have it. The associate could see the thieving glint in my eye and interrupted my scheming to warn me that the one person who tried to relieve her of said pen is now in traction at a local hospital. She was clearly joking and utterly incapable of violence, but the intended message was loud and clear: Do not take my pen, or else. So I abandoned my half-baked plot to steal it and sped home to order a few for myself in different colors, as well as a few boxes of refill cartridges with different colors of ink. Until recently, my go-to pen was a fountain pen that my parents had gifted me a few years back. For better or worse, that fountain pen is now relegated to the second tier, because I'm all about the EnerGel! And, unlike the fountain pen, the EnerGel does not leak or leave my hand covered in ink. The ink actually dries almost instantly, which is a lifesaver for any lefty. Although it may sound like hyperbole, I REALLY love this pen and cannot recommend it highly enough! I've tried dozens, if not hundreds, over the years, and this is head and shoulders above the rest.

The Next Step Up From Disposable Plastic Pens.
The Pentel Energel Alloy RT is a great pen for people who want to step up from the cheap disposable plastic pens without breaking the bank. Made completely of metal, it is somewhat heavier but well balanced. The textured grip makes it easy to hold. The best part by far is the ball point and the ink are incredibly smooth with just the right amount of rolling resistance. Makes writing a pleasure. No need to press hard on the pen, ink starts to flow as soon as you start to write, and no skipping common with cheap pens. Ink dries quickly with no smears. The first one I bought has lasted 3 years of every day use and still going. Comes with the 0.7 mm medium line. I like to refill it with the 0.5 mm fine line black (which I have only ever seen on amazon). Comes in numerous colors. Writes well on almost any type of paper. Comes with lifetime limited warranty.

a couple leaked, but now they don't
UPDATE: 11/22/12 Ok i think they are all working well and the pens are perfect! I really do love these pens, i think i must have been causing them to leak by excessively clicking them as i stopped doing that and i haven't had any problems UPDATE: 11/12/12 Well... I got my new pen, and it was bent and sucked, BUT I started to use my two old pens that I had kept upside down for the last few months after they were leaking and it's been a week and so far, they are back to being perfect with no leaks... I think a few months ago when I used them and they leaked, I think I may have been clicking them open and close very fast and frequently and perhaps that caused it So far I am pleased once again with this pen... I am going to order a couple more and if it they continue to work/ be good, I''l up the rating again. UPDATE: I really love these pens (minus the leaking) and based on the two people who commented on my review who've had better luck, i am going to order one more and give it a shot... i never refilled them so perhaps the ones i received were detective I bought two... I was in love with them for a couple of weeks, then they started just dripping ink... On my hands, paper and the floor. Luckily not in my pockets so far as I've noticed... I keep clicking them, wiping the ink off with a tissue then retracting them. I keep them upside down now when not in use, but I realized I am just buying time until one spills ink all over my pants pockets. It's a shame because the pens are beautiful, feel and look high quality and write nicely. Maybe this is expected with this type of pen, but I have trouble imagining someone being satisfied with ink flowing from a pen whether you are writing with it or not.

The perfect pen
I love these alloy pens! Energel is my favorite gel pen to write with. I'm pretty picky about how my pens feel when I write and Energel is very smooth. The alloy pens are the perfect pen. Just the right weight, not too heavy, and not too thin. Whenever someone uses my pen at my desk they all wish they could keep it. They also engrave well. I've had some engraved and given them as gifts and the recipients love them. I also like that refills don't cost a fortune.

A pretty pen
The pink color is lovely and I really like the writing tip, as I do on all Energels. They are my favorite type of pen. I usually prefer the ultra fine 0.3 tips, but got a 0.7 tip in the disposable, plastic style and really liked it. Wanting to upgrade to a refillable model, I bought this beautiful pink version. What keeps it from being a 5-star item for me is this pen, perhaps it was just my specific pen, has a wobble to it in the tip that none of my other Energels have. It makes the writing a bit less pleasant. I'm also used to the gel/rubber grip on the cheaper refillable Energels, and while this pen had some texture in the grip, it is less comfortable metal. The finger grip on this pen had a wider circumference than other Energels and I'm just not a fan. While the color is pretty and the trip has that wonderful Energel writing quality, I wouldn't order this particular pen type, in any color, again. Energels are still my absolute favorite pens, just not this Energel.

Love the colour and the Pen
What a lovely pen and it writes really well, does not smudge and as yet has not bled through the pages. Still early days but it will fit into the slot in my journal and look really good. I have also bought refills, but not sure how long this one will last before I have to refill. The pen is quite substantial, not a slim line one, which I wanted
