## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference going from Super Crema to Gran Crema?**
A: Both are medium roasts. However, the Gran Crema is 40% South America arabica and 60% Southeast Asia robusta beans, where Super Crema is 60% Southeast Asia robusta beans and and 40% South American arabica beans, so the Super Crema is going to be more delicate with brighter tones (more fruity) while the Gran Crema is going to have deeper and richer tones, more chocolate-y and nutty.

For those who say that these beans are bitter, they--or their machine--may be overextracting the beans. If grinding your own, may want to try a coarser grind to make less bitter. If sour, may want to try grinding finer. Can be a little difficult to distinguish the two, so may want to do some research online for how to differentiate.

Regarding the flavor of creama (not this product, but generally speaking), creama usually does not taste very good. What crema does help do is allow one to identify how well their extraction went.

**Q: How many servings are in this bag?**
A: It all depend on how you use it. I use 19 grams of beans to pull a 36 gram 28 second espresso shot (I use a non-pressurized filter). 2.2 lbs = 1000 grams, thus, I get about 52 cappuccinos. I probably average about 2.5 per day, therefore, each bag lasts me about 3 weeks. With a pressurized filter, the standard is 7 grams per shot, therefore, 140 shots. Using my chemex I will use 10 grams per cup, therefore I get 100 cups. Many people use 7 grams per cup, so they will get 140 cups. Hope this helps. (btw, this comes to about 45 cents per cappuccino, with milk it comes to 60 cents each, at 2.5 per day I spend $1.50 for what would cost me $10 per day at Starbucks (the McDonald's of coffee).

**Q: Is this suitable for espresso machine？**
A: This is DEFINITELY suitable for an espresso machine

**Q: Would this coffee be good to use in a regular drip coffeemaker, or is an espresso maker required? Thank you!**
A: It works perfectly fine in a drip coffee maker. I drink primarily espresso but will grind some when I go on vacation. It works well, the coffee tastes good as far as drip coffee goes and is still way more caffeinated than most American brands.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Consistently great coffee beans at a fair price
*by J***C on 26 November 2025*

Since buying our coffee machine (Sage Barista Express) in 2019 - a great machine that isn't without its issues (I know the insides of it rather more intimately than I wanted to, let's leave it at that) - we settled on Lavazza beans as our staple. Normally we go for the Rossa or Crema e Aroma beans, with Super Crema often being a touch more expensive. Recently the cost of our normal beans has increased and brought them closer to the Super Crema in price, so we tried these for a change. I'd say that these are tasty beans (though we slightly prefer the Crema e Aroma to these) and they make a good flat white (we weigh approximately 18.3g per FW, pull about a 35g shot - this on a reasonably fine grind) and we get a pretty consistent result. Good aroma, moderate strength and even though we're buying 6x1Kg at a time, they seem to stay perfectly fresh when opened (stored carefully in the fridge with airtight seal) for the three or so weeks it takes us to use a bag. Can't comment on the caffeine content versus the others, but sufficient would be the word I'd use. Compared to the prices from even a year or two back - when these could be had for around £10-£12/Kg - prices have gone up dramatically, but at just over £100 per 6Kg (based on our last purchase) - they're still great value relative to a lot of branded or small-batch alternatives. And whilst supporting your local roastery is a great thing to do, there's a strong argument to dial in on a consistent and easily available source of beans; my experience is that properly dialled-in Lavazza is preferable to an inconsistently dialled-in fancy artisan roast, at least with my limited skills!
