I have no complaints. Had this knife for a while now and it is very nice.

This knife is very high quality and was razor sharp out of the box. I’ve had knives of all kinds and price points, and this one is great for the price. Looks great, has a shark blade, and the edge holds up well to standard use. The spring assist works great and helps to open quickly with just a small push. The grip is solid and feels great in my larger hands. Size and weight are great and feels light for this quality of a knife, but does not feel cheaply made because of the lighter weight. If needed, I would but this exact model again.

I have been looking for a pocket knife that my hands could open AND close. (I have arthritis in my hands/fingers and my thumb joints have collapsed making my thumbs somewhat useless. I offer this information in case it helps someone determine if this knife might be right for him or her.) After a lot of reading and comparing of knives, I decided to try the Kershaw Blur partially serrated folding knife. Here are features I like and reasons this knife has proven to be the right choice for me. (1) The Kershaw brand has a well-earned solid reputation. (2) The knife appears well made and matches the listed specs. (3) The blade is sharp! (4) The knife is a good weight. I found some knives too heavy in my pocket or on my waistband or belt. (5) The handle portion of the knife is "roughed up" or textured so that I can get and keep a good grip on the knife, lessening the risk of a sharp knife slipping through wet hands. (6) The knife is pretty easy for me to open, but not quite as easy as I would like. I can't get my fingers to master the one-handed speed open. I have to use both hands to hold the knife while pulling the blade out. That said, yes it takes both my hands, but I can readily/easily pull the blade out without cutting myself. (7) For me, here is the knife's selling point: my ability to close the knife easily. I have found lots of knives relatively easy to open, but nearly impossible to close because they require strong thumbs. This Kershaw knife does require me to move a bar like thing with my thumb as I push on the back of the blade. I have found this bar easy to move as I simultaneously push on the blade. The blade releases from its locked position and then I can finish closing the knife. I can close the blade without any danger of cutting myself. A general note. I have to use both hands to open the knife and I often use both hands to close it. Having to use both hands is probably a "deal breaker" for many pocket knife owners. I suspect, however, most people who have more fully functional hands and/or people who are not as klutzy as I, can easily open and close this knife single handedly.

So I have never really owned a pocketknife or carried one. I basically wanted a pocketknife that would have some utility and also possibly for defense that was legal carry within my state. After pouring through dozens of knives and reviews, this one kept coming to the top. Exterior: The feel of the knife closed it very rugged and tough. The outer grip is textured it what feels like heavy grains of smooth sand coated in a rubber paint. Excellent grip and no slippage when held in the palm. The metal is cool and feels only moderately hefty, but just the right weight to feel confident at tasks. The design of the exterior is functional and looks very nice in flat black. I almost bought the olive drab version but decided to save the $10 dollars and get the black one on sale. On edge, the width of the casing is a slim 1/2"... So pocketing it is not a problem. A minor thing, is that the clip for the knife is pretty tight when inserted into a pocket. It might be overly tight imo but one thing for sure is it won't be lost if you use the clip. I have seen that others have modified and reversed the clip which is something I may try. Action: Opening the knife is fairly smooth. However, if I had to be nit picky about anything it is that it can take some force to flick open one handed. The tip of your thumb can be rubbed a bit raw from open and closing if you use your finger nail and thumb tip. After further experimentation, it seems to work best comfort wise further back on the thumb near the first digit where the folds of the skin are. I may try and bevel the points where you flick the blade out, as they seem a bit pointy. The motion is just a bit forward and outward and it snaps right open. Closing the blade might be a two handed affair. While you can do it, it might be risky as it takes some force to the blade closed all the way. Blade: I am not an metallurgical expert, but the metal feels excellent. As others have mentioned it comes razor sharp (missing some forearm hair as proof!). This is not a toy, by any means and should be treated with healthy respect. I love the look of the blade, being a middle ground between elegant beauty and tactical appearance. The curve of the top of the blade is great, and the point ends like a razor. Summary: This is a awesome knife, and I am very pleased to carry it as my first pocketknife. The look and quality is 100% where it needs to be, with only two minor quirks in some of the function. (pocket clip and thumb points) But nothing to stop me from recommending this to others. Look no further and get this made in the USA knife!

This is a very nice knife, it looks good, carry’s well in your pocket and opens with a flick of your thumb and lock’s sturdy in place. The knife fells good in your hands and is well balanced and easy to use when needed. Every Kershaw Knife I have ever bought has came razor sharp out of the box.

Probably the absolute best Kershaw knife I have owned yet. The speed-safe mechanism is fantastic on this knife. Works much better than the cheaper Volt II and the Tremor I have owned. The scales are very grippy, and the blade stays sharp forever. I just wish the pocket clip was a little deeper riding, like the clip on the Cryo. That is the only complaint I have about it, because all replacement clips I have found are pretty expensive. Edit - Update: Feb 2025 I still have this knife. Honestly, it's one of the best knives I've carried on a daily basis, and one of the few that I have that I can easily say that I'd replace in a heartbeat. I absolutely love this knife and how it feels in my hand. The blade is incredible, and will cut whatever you need all day long. Obviously, with the thinness of the blade and the geometry, it's not meant to be hammered through stuff, not would I with any frame lock knife - which brings me to my only dislike about this knife. I know it's just me being picky, but I do wish this had a better locking system. I know it'd be hard to implement, and honestly I'd be worried that it would destroy a nearly perfect knife design. Ken Onion did a fantastic job designing this knife, I've bought many more knives since I purchased this one, but it's been nearly impossible to find a folding knife that fits my hand as good as this one does. Congradulations Ken, you've ruined me forever in trying to find a knife I like as much as this one with a better lock. I'm not joking, thats my general criteria now when I'm looking at a new folding knife, find one that feels as good in the hand as the Blur, with a better locking mechanism. And I'm having a terrible time doing so. Almost no one out there seems to know how to make a truely ergenomic knife handle. I will continue to carry this knife once in a while, as I feed my addiction of obtaining sharp pointy pieces of steel.
