This item is exactly what I needed. Simple, built well, and works like what I needed. I have a smaller side table so I wanted a clock that wouldn't overwhelm the space. The alarm is loud enough to get me moving in the morning. Clock is what I wanted and the process was right.

J'ai eu ce même réveil pour la première fois il y a bien au moins 10 ans je pense. Je pensais qu'il avait fini par rendre l'âme, et j'en ai donc acheté un autre, mais en fin de compte après l'avoir donné à quelqu’un qui bidouille les appareils, il marche de nouveau comme au premier jour. Donc clairement on est sur une très longue durée de vie.Le système d'alarme qu'on peut désactiver en tapant dessus c'est bien pratique pour éviter de réveiller les voisins, parce-que oui, il sonne fort (en tout cas pour moi). Les aiguilles fluorescentes c'est du marketing, ne vous attendez pas à pouvoir lire l'heure la nuit. On ne peut pas régler l'heure de l'alarme très précisément, mais personnellement ça ne me dérange pas. Et il fait bien le bruit tic-tac, mais c'est vraiment très léger et le cerveau fait complétement abstraction du bruit.Quand je me relis on dirait qu'il n'a que des défauts, mais en vrai je l'adore ce petit réveil, c'est bien pour ça que j'ai racheté le même modèle ! Il est petit, il est simple, il est efficace.

I had a similar alarm clock to this one (not a Casio one though - if I remember right I got it from Wilkinsons!) but it got broken recently when I accidentally knocked it off my bedside table and it totally fell apart. So, I needed another alarm clock and decided to get this one because a) it seemed compact and functional, without unnecessary functions that I would rarely, if ever use, b) I prefer this 'normal' type of alarm clock to the digital ones, c) Casio is a well known brand and c) it wasn't over-priced!It arrived this morning and I'm so happy with it! It's exactly as it looks in the photo (the black one), although the green numbers and the tips of the hands are much brighter than depicted in the photo. The green almost looks fluorescent so I'm sure I will be able to see the time in the dark! The clock is a really nice size - compact but not too small - and it seems quite substantial. It came with a battery which I popped in, not necessarily expecting it to work as I thought it could be an old one, but it works fine. To set the time and the alarm, there's a little button / dial at the back. To set the alarm just turn that and set it to the right time. Then pull the little slider thingy on top of the clock up and the alarm is set (push the slider down to turn the alarm off). To set the time just pull that button out a bit and turn it to get the right time setting. When you've set the time, just push the button back in to the original position. The alarm is nice and clear and not startlingly loud, thank god, but loud enough to wake most people up unless perhaps they're the kind of sleeper who is almost totally dead to the world when they're asleep but the alarm should even wake them up!This is just perfect for me - a well priced, nice quality, straightforward, functional, compact and nice looking little clock! I don't see the point in wasting money on bigger, clunky, more 'hi-tech' and costly alarm clocks, especially the digital ones with all the stupid settings that I would hardly, if ever, use anyway. This one is great and it seems like it should last me for quite awhile unless, of course, I knock it off the bedside table like I did with my last alarm clock and it falls apart! I'll be more careful in future though!
