So so so good!!
This was absolutely epic! I had high expectations going into Kaiju #8 and it honestly did not disappoint! Kafka is a very compelling hero that you can't help but cheer for and laugh with (which is probably why there was one chapter where I laughed so hard I cried LOL). The opening chapter makes him instant relatable and really shows how great of a guy he is. However, even though I loved Kafka, OH MY GOODNESS, Ichikawa is AMAZING! Granted, him and Kafka really balance one another, but their banter is GOLD! I absolutely love it and know that probably why I like Ichikawa so much is because you honestly can't have one guy without the other. They are two opposites of one coin, but share a common goal in protecting people and wanting to join the Japanese Defense Forces. They both really awesome, but I feel like their roles are switched because Ichikawa is the one always getting on Kafka instead of vice verse. I really really liked the gentle way the mangaka wove in different backstories because it felt so natural and part of the story that it really was a hook, line, and sinker. Like it only amped up the storytelling and liked how we had these flashbacks at just the right moment to show why a character was compelled to do what they did. I was surprised by one backstory for a character we meet later on because my heart really went out to her. I would definitely would love to know what happens next! Though sometimes their felt a little more "ugh, that was gross" then I personally like (because when Kafka defeated that one kaiju I realized that was NOT rain 🤢) and still think the one bath scene was unneeded even if nothing was shown. I still really enjoyed this story though! That ending was such a cliffhanger and SO much is out in the open now that I'm concerned for Kafka AND Ichikawa! Totally recommend Kaiju #8 to those who love kaiju, "older heroes" (Kafka is 32 and he's called old man by the "young people" LOL), and a really engaging story that will leave you gripping your book/Kindle as that was definitely me that last quarter of the book! EAGERLY looking forward to more in this series!

Read out of curiosity, Going on the List
As someone who grew up reading only the shonen variety of manga like Naruto and Bleach, I will admit to getting burned out on them. But this. This combines everything I loved about those in my childhood and the seriousness I've come to crave in adulthood. My initial thoughts of the series were actually inaccurate considering the age of the characters and how the organization they work for operates but I gotta say, it's fantastic. There isn't much said in the first volume by exposition -most we learn is from them explaining how and why they are doing things. Which is a very nice touch. The tone of the story also blends well with the art style. Not being too clean for comedy but not being overly messy and lessening the seriousness of the story it's telling. This is definitely going on the List of Too Many Options and I will be getting the next volumes soon.

One of the Best New Series of the past 10 years
While 2020 & 2021 were overall pretty stressful years. Something truly great launched than, Kaiju No. 8. I have not been this impressed by a new series in a very long time. If your looking for a new action series, look no further. So what is it about, in a word Kaiju. Kaiju is Japanese word that roughly translates to mysterious beast or strange creature. Popularized by Godzilla, it's become an entire genre of itself. In the world of Kaiju No 8 Kafka dreams of joining the defense force to protect people from these dangerous monsters. Yet now in his thirties seem further away than ever. A chance twist of heroics results in him turning into the very creatures he swore he would protect others from. Yet through it all he won't give up on his dream. And that's just the set up. The characters are memorable filled personality. The artwork is too notch and At moments gives such a sense of motion it reminds me of One Punch Man. I could gush on for hours about it but I don't want to spoil anything. Do yourself s favor and give a look. -MickManga

Manga
Great art, I didn't quite like the story. But definitely worth the read. The paper was good quality. There was no color aswell, but most Mangas don't have color so it doesn't bother me. It might bother some though if this is there first manga.

A great first volume
This is one of the best first volumes of manga I’ve read. It’s got fighting and humor with an interesting twist. The setup in this one for future stories is great. You know there’s a lot of fun coming up and as someone that’s now read more, it’s true. It’s had great sales numbers in Japan and will have an anime release in 2024.

Well with godzilla and his pals around who woudn't expect there to be a manga which points out japan as the number one attack point for kaiju. It just makes sense to me. I like the idea of makking the main character an older gentleman instead of the usual highschoolers we are used to seeing. The monster design is quite intresting so far. Instead of just. A giant turtle (example) the monster have a certain unnatural or alien feel to them. As for the main hero his in my opinion looks absolutly badass. I deffinetly recomend this one.
