Can insects and pests enter through the sides when closed?** A: Yes the door is about an inch away from the wall when closed **Q: I have a 4 inch space from my ceiling to the top of the doorway. What's the measurement from the top of the hanger to the bottom of the wheel?** A: I don't happen to have the dimensions available with me at this time but I can tell you if you only have 4 inches from the top of the door opening to the ceiling, you will probably not be able to use any barn door hardware. The rail that the rollers sit own needs to be mounted above the door opening as well as the space for the rollers. You also need about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the bottom of the rail to the top of the door itself. All of that will add up to more than 4". This is a great question as most novice installers won't even think about this when purchasing barn door hardware. I commend you for the forethought of the installation prior to purchase. **Q: Can you mount the rail directly to the drywall / studs? Or do you have to install a header board first?** A: You can mount directly to the studs. However, you are likely to need to drill at least some new holes in the rail to place it where you want. Strangely, the unit I installed had pre-drilled holes on 17" centers (what?????). I used black electrical tape on the back of the rail so the wall color did not show through the pre-drilled holes that were not used. If your framing is already exposed it might be worth installing some 2x6 blocking, but if not you can drill your own holes where you need them. The hassle to value ratio of the rock repair is not worth it IMHO. Good luck with your project. **Q: what is the diameter of the wheel itself? I'm looking for something small, with a wheel maybe 1'' to 1.5'' in diameter to fit a smaller mounting space** A: The diameter of the [2] upper wheels is apromx. 2 3/4" in diameter. You could find (2) wheels the size you need and use them instead of provided ones. They attach by (1) bolt through the center. The wheel inside " rim" that rides on the 3/16" thick bar should be at least 1/4" deep. Over all, I am very happy with this set and would recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by S***9 on 14 February 2020* This product is equal to the quality of those I looked at in Lowes and for a fraction of the cost. The parts are seriously heavy duty, well finished, and up for the purpose. It comes with detailed instructions and measurements. The included guide parts for the bottom of the door are unlikely to work for most people as they will be thwarted by having to cut a kerf in the bottom of the door; any uneveness in in the floor; and they are plastic hence probably not very durable. We used a roller guide supplied also on Amazon which works well and has a lot of leeway on fit. We also determined that although the standoffs for the rail are solid metal and very wide that they might eventually crush sheet rock or plaster if mounted directly through the wall to studs. We elected to install a 1/4 rail of oak. this also made locating the standoffs and the screws easy and straight-forward. Unfortunately, while other reviewers commented on how well the two-piece rail fit and that the rollers went over it smoothly, this was not our experience. The fit is precise but the location by the factory was not so we had to file down the meeting point in order for the rollers to pass over smoothly. Overall very pleased with the product and expect many years.
