This glue is exactly what our pediatric endocrinologist said it would be. You get more for less money than the single use tubes… but it is harder to apply. We found unscrewing the top and dipping regular Q-tips made cleanup easier. Otherwise you end up with a lid that’s glue shot. No skin irritation or bad smell.

As someone who uses adhesives to keep medical devices secure on my skin, I was excited to try Mastisol. I had been using Skin Tac, but when I switched to a new CGM sensor, I needed something stronger. The CGM company recommended Mastisol, so I gave it a shot. And I'm glad I did - it works wonderfully, keeping my overpatches in place for longer periods. However, the tiny bottle it comes in is a nightmare. The hard plastic and awkward tip make it a challenge to apply the product. I've tried using a cotton swab, squeezing the bottle upside down, and even rubbing the tip against my skin - all with varying degrees of success. It's a bit of a trial-and-error process, and I'm not thrilled about it. If I'm honest, I'd probably try to remove the top if I purchased this bottle again, just to make it more manageable. Despite the struggles, I appreciate the strong adhesion, and I'll likely continue using Mastisol. But I wish they'd reconsider the packaging!

I put it in empty mastisol spray bottle to save money

I just ordered my 3rd bottle. I use it for my G7 and pump infusion sites, and 1 bottle lasts me a full year. I use a flat makeup cotton circle, soaking half the circle with alcohol for cleaning, then add a few drops to the opposite end to wipe the entire area where I'll be sticking the device, followed by an overpatch for the G7. After application, I use the still-wet alcohol half of the circle to remove the Mastisol not covered by the overpatch or infusion site. Injecting through the Mastisol has never been a problem. Avoid getting it on your fingers, but a liberal dose of alcohol seems to allow it to be wiped away. The only down side is a rather strong odor that seems to last for most of a day. I try to use it before bed, then shower in the morning, and this removes the odor.
