Does this have better quality than the Antlion Modmic 4.0?

I own both the Antlion ModMic and the V-Moda Boom Pro. The V-Moda is an Omni-Directional mic and the Antlion comes in both omni-directional and uni-directional configurations. The frequency response from an omni-directional is better than uni-directional. The uni-directional will have better background noise cancellation but the voice quality will suffer a bit. The Antlion omni and the V-Moda sound almost identical in sound quality. I like that the ModMic can be used with any pair of headphones while the V-Moda has to be used with headphones that have a removable 3.5mm cable. The V-Moda also has volume control and mute switch as well, the ModMic only had a mute switch. Sound quality is honestly too close to call. Both are excellent. Pick which one works best with the headphones you want to use. Hope this helps!

Has anyone used this with the HD 598s?

You have to remove the locking mechanism by opening up the ear cup. Once done, you can use any cable you want with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. This can also be done on any mid-range headphone with a locking mechanism such as the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, Sennheiser HD 558, and the like. Just be careful during the process. :)

Is this compatible with Xbox One headset adapter for both chat and game audio when plugged into headset?

Yes, with the headset adapter it works very well with xbox one. I also use it on my ps4, which doesnt need an adapter and it works very well with both consoles. Best chat and game audio ive ever used is my vmoda crossfade m110 and boompro mic.

I want to pair this with a Skullcandy Hesh 2 to use them with the Xbox One Headset adapter, will they work?

It is a 1/8" stereo insert so I would assume that it will work. I think the Skullcandy Hesh 2's have a removable 1/8" jack so there "should" be no issue with doing that.
