A Cool but Unnecessary Tool
These Tire Tread Depth Gauges are a handy little tool that can help you quickly assess your tire tread depth. Its color-coded design makes it easy to visually determine if your tires need to be replaced. While it's a convenient option for those who may not be familiar with other methods, it's worth noting that there are simpler, more accessible alternatives. The Pros: Easy to Use: The color-coded system provides a straightforward way to gauge tread depth. Portable: The compact size makes it easy to keep in your car for quick checks. The Cons: Redundant: For most people, using a penny or their fingernail is a perfectly adequate way to measure tread depth. Cost: While the gauge is relatively inexpensive, it might not be worth the investment if you're already comfortable using other methods.

Great price for a necessity
I'm an older widow. My husband always took care of my tires. I realized, because it was now my job, that I needed to know when to replace them, so I ordered this gauge. IRonically, it arrived a few days before I needed to inflate my tires more because of the cold weather. I was told I needed new tires because of the little tread that was left. I double checked their diagnosis for each tire with this tire tread gauge. I was able to verify what they told me.

Budget Tread Depth Gauge: Color-Coded and Handy, But Feels Flimsy
I appreciate the GODESON 88702 for its simplicity and ease of use the color-coded system is intuitive and the small size means I can keep one in every car. It’s ideal for quick check-ups, and the low price is hard to beat. That said, the plastic construction feels cheap and I’ve seen gauges crack after a few sessions. Tiny measurement lines also make it fairly unreliable for precise readings. If you want a quick, budget-friendly way to check tread depth, this works just know it’s not a professional tool and may not last more than a few months of use.
