We ordered this as a "suggested" item when purchasing a steam punk monocle for my son. It came in and I was quite pleased with it. For a "costume" piece it was made quite well. I was also very happy it came in not smashed up as I kind of expected it to be. Its nice and firm, not flimsy and the material looks like it will last quite some time. Very nice addition to his costume for the price. Fits my head a little small but it fit my sons head very well. He is 13. So it does run a tad small I guess for adults. I recently bought a real (male) human skeleton from an auction house. This was not a Halloween purchase - I have just always wanted one and the time/price was right. Mr. Skeleton has not yet arrived; he's off for a professional cleaning and refurbishing on the way here. When he gets to his new home, I am going to have a party to welcome and name him. So anyway, he hangs from a stand by a bolt and ring on the skull. I bought him a blue tie NEW SOLID ROYAL BLUE SATIN Mens Necktie Neck Tie , blue LED glasses Glofx Colored LED Glasses - Blue Led Glasses - For Rave Party - Durable High Quality and this hat for the occasion. (I also bought a bunch of glow sticks for the live guests 300 8" Premium Glow Stick Bracelets (10 Color Mixed Assortment) .) However, I will have to cut a hole in the hat so he can wear it. The hat arrived. It is FAR too sturdy and just plain awesome to ruin! It's shiny, well made, and looks like it cost a lot more than it did! Unlike some other reviewers, no one in the house had a problem with it being too small. I suppose some other Amazon buyers must have larger brains than my family! My 13 yr old son tried it right on and asked if I'd order another for him, so I just gave this one to him. This morning he even wore it to school; it was a special "wear a hat" day for a fundraiser. Now I'm torn - buy another for Mr. Skeleton, or get something more worthy of having a hole cut in it. If any of you have name ideas, leave me a comment. Today is 10/3/13...the party won't be for at least a month!

Quite a good costume top hat! It's believable looking -- about 6" tall with a real ribbon hat band. It is well-shaped (provided it is shipped well - our first was overly protected to the point of damage from within the box!). Best of all, it is made of a decent-looking, black, felt-like material that does not look like costume material but instead looks like real hat felt. It's very nice for a faux! We were a little worried about fit, as we have some big-headed types who wanted to wear this (i.e., hat size 7 1/2 and 7 5/8 ). It worked out fine, though - a bit snug for the 7 5/8, but perfectly usable. It seems to have some give to it, and it is most definitely sized for adults. This might be one of the few "one size" hats I have seen that actually does fit most who try it! It's a great deal for the price, unless you happen to leave it sitting in a public venue. We discovered that it is not a hat that gets turned in to lost and found, or returned if you put your name and number in it -- I just need to figure out a way to attach it to my son / husband / friend / (whoever happens to be wearing it) so it makes it home again each time. I guess modern guys just are not used to top hots as a fashion accessory!

I bought 2 top hats and found that they were perfect for our needs. They are of good quality and are durable. They arrived quickly, however the brims were slightly bent, but not that noticeable. We are using them for steampunk costumes and were able to glue multiple items along the sides. They turned out better than expected. I would purchase these again in the future and recommend anyone that needs a top hat for a costume or other event to buy this one. Very reasonable in price and great look.

I returned this hat after seeing it in person. While the product image provided looked nice, it was taken from a single angle and conveniently hides all the defects. Seeing this in person I saw the ribbon was fraying at the edges, there were places where the threads were coming loose, and the finishing of the edges of the trim were messy. The seller also sent this to me in a reused box with an existing label that they hadn't marked out, which is very unprofessional and I had to mark that out myself to make sure it wasn't scanned by mistake. On top of all that I had to pay for return shipping, which is very frustrating when the product images are so misleading. Overall a waste of my time and money.

It's not a very high-quality product. It functioned, but it's cheap, stiff, and a bit small on my head (although I do have a rather large head compared to many, so it may fit you fine). It both looks and feels cheap; you'd best hope no one looks too closely at it if you're somewhere formal. The satin ribbon around its base is loose and poor quality as well. Altogether it feels like a child's toy; something you'd buy at Party City or some other Halloween store. I would not recommend this at all for formal events, and only recommend it for costuming if you're looking for something that's okay at a distance or in dim light-- for quality cosplay it wouldn't work very well at all.

I purchased this as an accessory for a costume so I obviously didn't want to spend much. This is a great hat for the price. I was afraid it was going to feel really flimsy or look really cheap but it's honestly great. It was a little big for my head but I gently lined the inside with folded paper napkins and duct tape and now it fits perfectly without flopping around. Can't wait to wear it on Halloween!! I do agree with what other costumers have said though about the packaging. The rim was a little bent up and those creases haven't fully come out

They sent it in a flimsy bag and it came mangled . It’s out of shape and can’t be used. The material is cheap and this product is not worth the money . The seller won’t refund the damaged product and only offered me a 3 dollar refund for delivery.
