Will this strap work for the compact I as well as the II?

Yes. I have the early compact and it makes a heckuva headlamp.

Can this be worn by soccer players? Is the strap sturdy enough to hold head impacts and sweat?

The strap is very sturdy, but the beam of the light is fairly narrow. I would think that it might limit peripheral vision too much for sports.

can this clip work for the sidewinder 14032?

From my extensive viewing of the Streamlight website, the clip looks like it's the same size and it's the only headlamp band they offer for it. So: Sure!
